I also can't believe that Toby is voicing John. Other than small maybe references in Deltarune he's barely even acknowledged Homestuck publicly in a long time. I think the last time was during the Undertale seventh aniversary stream three years ago. He's finally reprising his role from The Baby is You.

I mean, its cool I guess? But I can't say I'm really excited for this tbh, sorta feels like it'll be the same thing that the books were, a cool novelty at best, but not something that really represents what Homestuck was.

on one hand, I do really hope this becomes a full show, but at the same time, I feel like this, and the weird current UHC situation is gonna turn Homestuck into another piece of media I have to be really careful who i bring it up around to make sure i don't detonate a conversational landmine.

Also, semi-related, it is hilarious that Toby Fox is voicing John, because people always *love* saying things to the tune of “Lol, I wonder how TOBY FOX feels about all of this” when referring to.. really anything about current day management. Hopefully this stops the weird parasocial trend of putting words in his mouth like we all know how he, or anyone else, feels about things.
@natalie if homestuck wasn’t already a landmine for you im jealous because ill never forget going to the first cosplay club meeting freshman year of college and all of us in a circle talking about past and future cosplays and as soon as I mention my Jade and Meenah cosplays I get cut off with the most over dramatic “no you don’t have to talk about it we’ve all been there homestuck was such a dark time” and a had to be like “well actually I’m still a fan I’m working on getting those fancy brainwave moving ears for a dogtier Jade“ (which I never ended up doing alas) but the way they shrunk back down and how awkward everything was after that smh…
actually similar stuff happened all the time at college but I guess that’s on me for going to an art school :P

ignoring the context behind everything going on lately, plus the show-runner, plus the inherit qualms i have with making an adaptation,,,, how long will this run? not trying to rain on anyones parade but animation takes a long time and i cannot imagine it getting through to the end of the comic in a reasonable amount of time. maybe ill look back at this in however many years and be wrong…? it just seems odd that almost ten years have passed since the comic ended and now there’s an adaptation

I've alwasy headcanoned Toby Fox as Dave because of Baby Is You. Would've loved to see MGB as John too.
