My number one issue is definitely not being able to mention or reply to people directly. You just kind of have to hope they check the thread again or message them externally, and with the latter I don't think it's something you want.
Being able to delete or edit your own posts would also be great but isn't necessary. I understand that it could cause issues, but sometimes you make syntax errors or misspeak and have to make a whole new reply to fix it.
wishlist: username colors? it's crazy that this isnt a feature already considering the source media for the forum. also seconding/thirding/forevering the 'being able to delete our own posts' feature. would also like a reply system.
I have a handful of friends who seem to be eternally awaiting email verifications. I don't know their emails or anything but it seems like many of them have waited for several hours and got nothing, no spam folder or anything.
Just wanted to put the word in for them here just in case it's a known bug or not :p

I'm sure it's something on my end, but I... also dunno how to do anything about it. I guess I'm just reporting it happens?

adding in my vote for bbcode. it'd also be nice to be able to bookmark threads to come back to & be able to friend people.
this is a pretty niche feature so i wouldn't be surprised if it's too much work or not worth it, but another forum i'm on (melonland.net) shows similar posts/topics as you're writing the post. i think this could be helpful in reducing bloat since i'm already seeing a lot of duplicate topics.
oh, and on a moderator side some way to merge threads would probably be good. that way the responses in duplicate locked threads don't have to be lost to time.
re: junedave a vector search wouldn't be TOO onerous there's a lot of packages for that. it just depends on the willpower and ability to implement (frantic waving from the audience) and the language the forums are coded in

I would love if I could change the font, within posts but mostly for display purposes - I find non-bold courier to be a little difficult to read + there is a bunch of it all together. Without much differentiation it's a little difficult for me to parse what's going on. Arial or something else sans-serif would be nice. Or maybe of a mix of fonts could also work? arial for bodies of posts and courier for stuff around it... colored hyperlinks would also be a big help, classic blue/purple-when-clicked.
and this is an old lady request but.... I think I would like to be able to disable gifs lol

oh and - maybe the ability to toggle display of posts? I like the initial post always being on display, but seems like it could get annoying for threads with really long ones

1. automatically open reply box at the end of a thread would be nice
2. when making a new thread in a subforum, it feels as though the subforum you're in should be automatically selected
May have already been brought up but video embedding would be nice, especially if people want to host/mirror fanventures here (although I understand going full mspfa might not be reasonable lol)
would be nice if you got notifications from thread you replied to and not just threads you've created. Could be a toggle in the settings?

feature request: ability to cosmetically customize the capitalization of the usernames in order to more closely emulate the style of pesterchum handles
Doesn't seem to respect system timezone so all dates are wrong for me. Also, when I set the birthday it's set to 1 day prior to what I set it to.

wishlist: an edit button so I dont have to doublepost when I realize it's probably cogent info to mention that it stays around on a refresh, and it even sticks around in incognito mode
just a couple features i would really like to see and they seem kind of necessary: a friends list, being able to block users (idk why this wasnt here on launch), liking posts, being able to subscribe to threads/topics/profiles (get notifications for any new reply), a proper reply to someone else's comment button instead of "RE:[NAMEHERE]". also a dedicated "MSPFA discussion" category would be really apprieciated
