you should be able to head back to the subforum a topic was posted in from the topic itself, or be able to tell what subforum its in. noticed this when looking through the recent topics sidebar and not being able to figure out where it was
also, when making a topic in one of the subforum pages it should automatically set it to post in that subforum rather than having to manually select it

oh also suggestion: the ability to like/heart/upvote/whatever posts and topics? feels like a no brainer, especially for forum adventures, to boost the commands you want, instead of just posting the same one over and over.

before anything else, common sense says any registered personal information such as a birthday and calculated age should be PRIVATE BY DEFAULT. this should be done at minimum for minor users if no one else. i also believe that pronouns should be optional and non-mandatory for registration. you'll definitely hear this a lot from "both ends" of the "pond." the intent is great but it sucks bad in practice.
heavily recommend a roadmap also, if not a repository for issue posting, if not a repository open to PRs, so you don't have to constantly tell people "already working on it" if you aren't going to have others implementing changes/additions.
WISHLIST (BASIC FORUM FUNCTIONALITY)

- auto-refresh (per-topic + per-board)
- beat-to-post alerts
- smart/"clever" quoting
- notification support would be goated
- drafts
- friends/foes
- page breadcrumbs
- display of forum permissions
- post editing (with diffs)
- display timestamps in local time as well as server time
WISHLIST (NICE-TO-HAVES)
- subscriptions (just for frontend and email notifications. atom support would be awesome but like. probably won't happen)
- unsure if stack will ever make it possible (probably not lol) but the children do yearn for bbcode. anything escaping this WYSIWYG hell would be nice.
- smarter images (thumbnailing large images, images in signature fit-to-height)
- usergroups.
WISHLIST (CAVEATS)
- weird that usernames have no character limits but pronouns do
- weird that topic count is displayed but post count is not
all-in-all this is a banging start and a cool foundation for some kind of "future" of central MSP(F)A discussion online, but what it lacks and the issues it has are glaring enough to make me wonder why this wasn't just built in phpBB, which a successful fanmade MSPAF clone was already made in @ https://forum.homestuck.xyz/, hosted entirely by a single individual.

I know it's a bit beyond the classic homestuck thematic but maaaayybe it could be neat if creators could have custom backgrounds for their projects' pages? Something like this maybe.

in name selection for some reason it's flagging the word "stardust" and i'm not sure why.
in the page selector i think the selected page button should be dark gray as opposed to white,, maybe just a personal preference but the dark gray feels indented and more like it’s selected

i think it'd be neat if there was a way to reply to replies in some way :) something like the discord thread feature maybe?? or something akin to how reddit does it ????? (´･ω･`)? as far as i can tell right now there really is no way to tell if someone commented At You on the same post you just did so kinda. like. Anything that fixes that would be lovely methinks (✿◡‿◡)

agree with @dragondreams. topics should show what board they're in.
agree with @rain. age should be private by default. the newlines are cavernous.
remaining forum functionalities, like replies and mentions, will come with time. i hope.
posting functionality also seems slightly off. when posting a reply, it takes you back to the first page of the topic, instead of the page your reply is on. your reply also remains in the post textbox, which can easily lead to doubleposting by accident.
Wishlist Item: Roleplay section. Like the MSPAF days...
please add some sort of css responsiveness for mobile formats. i’m well aware this is a forum, but the vast majority of people will be accessing this site on some sort of mobile device.
also, emotes. emotes would be really cools.
