Man, oh man, I have so many thoughts on this upd8. Or well, what it means for the upcoming story. Can you tell from my avatar that I've been waiting for this moment? Squiddles are real, I can barely believe my own eyes.
That said, I can't wait to find out more about their session and how it's going to work. I mean, how do you even put 48 Nymphs in the same session? In fact, are they even going to all be Nymphs? There are many questions, and many upd8s yet to come.
On the topic of Nymph romance, I like to imagine that it'll be based on moiraillegiance, while Satyrs will have romance based on auspisticism. This way, there'll be one species for each type of romance, plus Trolls which have all four. And Leprechauns. Of course.

I drew Ly'lac. I've been super excited for her even before we knew her name, so I really liked her shennanigans in this upd8! I am really curious about what her... caretaker is...? It looks like she lives in a tall tower. I wonder if she is the only resident, or if she lives with other nymphs.
My crack theory is that Rose and Dirk will be the guardians/caretakers for their respective species, mostly because Vriska seems to be handling the omega kids...

Not sure how to spoiler images on this forum yet so for now I'll share these here. As many of you probably know these forums have several easter eggs when registering if you attempt to assign yourself a username of a canon/dubcanon homestuck character. Lots of characters are accounted for, but what I find interesting is that all of the new characters we've been introduced to in this update also have responses:

OMG I JUST FINISHED THE UPD8 AND I LOVE LY'LAC!!! I think making a new species to play with and having a whole new session is such a good direction for the comic to go. I also am thrilled about the prospects of having MORE characters to have makeship plushies of. I can't wait to see how big the crew is, what their species culture is like, how this expands the world of Sburb/Shurb/whatever the troll one was. IM SO EXCITEDDDDDD!!!!

This is our first example of dialogue from most of these new kids! TC and AA aren't super revealing, but... CC... Oh boy. Ohhhhh boy. I'm EXCITED. Heheheheheh! It makes me excited partially because I've really, really wanted to see the internet nostalgia nerdy teenager represented in Homestuck for a while. I dunno that's just kind of the vibe I'm getting from this? I am obviously biased, but I do think Homestuck has a fair amount of overlap with that demographic (at least among teens currently reading it) Like, just look up Homestuck on nekoweb or neocities. I might be wrong about the vibe, but I'm excited. Also they made Ly'lac's messanger theme which I think is really cool... :)

also, am I wrong or do we see three other pals in her chart client? they all look like they might be nymphs given the little profile thingies, so... four nymphs? if so that puts a wrench in the "3 Nymphs, 3 Satyrs, 4 Omega Kids" theory. tho, TC seems like he may be a satyr so, maybe it's just that Ly'lac only has 3 friends among the Delta Kids

So. At least the way I read this, it sounds to me like CT and TC are satyrs. I'm not sure what ur-tech refers to, but it allowed TC to do a "cross-net communique" which Ly'lac responds to. I think satyrs and nymphs are usually unable to message eachother. This means that Ly'lac's app is only built for talking to other nymphs, hence why TC is represented as one despite the fact that he... really seems like a satyr.
Also, this tech seems to allow them to communicate with the Omegas on earth C. So. That's. Also a thing for sure! We know Ly'lac and Vrissy are talking, and I wonder if it's possible that some of the other Deltas and Omegas are talking too... or maybe it's just her! We'll see.
Sorry if someone else has pointed this out, but has anyone noticed that Ly'lac is 5 letters? I wonder if the nymphs are all going to have 5 letter names, like how the humans all have 4 and the trolls all have 6
