Congrats! That is indeed a trap door. Unfortunately for the APPRENTICE, it appears to be locked!

And they have no key nor spell to unlock it...

The WIZARD'S APPRENTICE picks up the HEAVY, STONE DISK from beneath their desk and holds it in their hands. It is weighty. Their arms struggle with the weight. The sigil etched upon the upper face of it glows as the APPRENTICE contemplates using the thing as a fucking frisbee.

They chuck it.

It clatters to the floor.

Shit's heavy, man.

Ah yes, this round marking on the floor, a worn out imprint on the ground. Suspiciously round. About the same size as the HEAVY, STONE DISK the APPRENTICE just tried tossing.

The HEAVY, STONE DISK, also known as the TELEPORTATION PAD.

That's where the TELEPORTATION PAD goes.

Yeah see? It's activated now. It's currently the APPRENTICE's only safe exit, its synced with the bottom floor of the tower.

Maybe it could have been a bit more clear that this is where it goes, but moving it off it's spot is the closest thing the APPRENTICE has to "locking their door."

Ah. The future. They can consider it and picture it, but they cannot experience it. Not yet.

You are right of course. The aptly named WIZARD'S APPRENTICE cannot be the little guy forever, but they are currently standing at the lowest tier of wizard.

There are eight ranks, or tiers, in our Wide Wizarding World, ranging from WIZARD'S APPRENTICE to ULTIMATE WIZARD. Each rank comes with better stats! (As promotional material would tell you.)

This first rank, WIZARD'S APPRENTICE, is the lowliest of lows, but only due to being the entry point of wizardry. It surely wont be long before their rank grows.

The tier above them is the WIZARD'S ACOLYTE. Still a learning role, the ACOLYTE remains beneath the tutelage of a superior wizard. An ACOLYTE knows the basics of how to cast spells, and has some knowledge of ALCHEMY.

The SPELLCASTER is the third rank. They are no longer bound to another wizard, and are officially a wizard of their own. They can confidently cast spells, and are able to hold their own in more complicated situations and duels.

The MAGE is where a wizard begins to come in tune with the natural forces about them, feeling and understanding how they draw from their for their own magicks. Typically, this is the rank in which a wizard will begin enchanting.

The ADEPT is the fifth tier of wizard, and is where the majority of wizards in our era rank. They have honed their craft, generally either becoming well trained in all areas of magic or well honed in one arcane school or another.

WARLOCKS are powerful and often fearsome. Where the ADEPT will learn spells and skills, the WARLOCK will create them. Not only are they in touch with forces around them, they can adapt them in formerly unknown ways for their own benefit.

The WIZARD'S APPRENTICE's master sits at the rank of ARCHMAGE, the second highest all ranks. Among the strongest of all wizards, they commune in a council and preside over many matters of magical nature.

The highest of all ranks is the ULTIMATE WIZARD. There are only few of these, and all are the masters of all arts, but often pioneers within their own areas.

It's pretty arbitrary in the end really, but it doesn't really matter to our APPRENTICE.

It is a long way away, but the WIZARD'S APPRENTICE's goal is thus: Become an ULTIMATE WIZARD.

So, how does one move up the ranks?

Mostly when higher ranked wizards say you do.

There's no real criteria, but tomorrow, the APPRENTICE has a chance.

Tomorrow is the WIZARD DUEL. The WIZARD'S APPRENTICE'S MASTER enrolled in this monthly event to motivate them to train their abilities, and to prove that they are worthy of their MASTER'S tutelage. If they do well, they'll rank up!

From their recollection, it shall take place tomorrow at noon at THE TOWERING CITY'S DUELING ARENA. Supposedly it also functions as a baseball field on off days.

They like baseball.

That is an image of the ULTIMATE WIZARD SER WAYNER. As stated before, the WIZARD'S APPRENTICE wishes to grow their skills to be as grand as he is. He is one of many, but this artistic tableau is the one the WIZARD'S APPRENTICE brought with them from their TRAGIC BACKSTORY.

They call him the TECHNOLOGY WIZARD. His hat is incredible... the APPRENTICE hopes to get their own soon.

Also pictured is his pet Pheonix. The WIZARD'S APPRENTICE does not have a pet, but it is another goal of theirs to gain one.

They cannot be the ULTIMATE WIZARD SER WAYNER, because they are the WIZARD'S APPRENTICE. But also, because SER WAYNER is busy sharing a couple smokes with a devil.

He needs to smoke the whole pack.

The APPRENTICE immediately starts coughing. That amount of smoking, real or imaginary, ain't good for nobody...

This is a terrible idea.

This is fucking insane.

This is one their worst ideas.

Do they have no sense of self preservation?

Here they are, the WIZARD'S APPRENTICE.

Falling.

Hopefully there IS a WIZARD GOD.

Wow, this tower is tall.

They knew that of course, before jumping out the window.

They could have just used their teleportation pad to the foyer, but no.

Here they fucking are.

WIZARD GOD, is that you?

The WIZARD'S APPRENTICE hopes and wishes it is.

The WIZARD'S APPRENTICE doesn't know if they have a spell to catch them if it isn't.

This guy calls the APPRENTICE an idiot.

Aaaaand we're back.

Ow.

So, that guy was no WIZARD GOD, turns out. After hearing his voice, the WIZARD'S APPRENTICE remembers that that guy is their MASTER.

After all of that momentum, we're lucky that they didn't hurt themselves gravely.

Lets take a quick peek at their status.

They have 16 HP and 20 MP, as well as the [PONDERIFICUS] and [TOMFOOLISHNESSITY] buffs.

Yeah, maybe if they had a Pheonix that would have been a safer idea.

Again, the APPRENTICE already has the [PONDERIFICUS] buff, and it still does not stack.
