How did you get your username?

i used to go by jade online, but then in a server i was in we got ANOTHER jade, so i immediently decided to become the inferior and renamed to green. green felt too short here so i put "greenisaprimarycolor" and called it a day

when i was like 11 i made a picture in ms paint of a dude that was only rendered in blue outlines and white everything else,i callde him blue guy. then later that year i made my first youtube account and decided to call it "bluetheguy" or something like that, after that whenever i made an account somewhere if blue guy, blueguy and blue_guy was taken id just put a "the" randomly in

I made it up just for these forums, I wanted something that sounded Homestucky. I do a lot of action figure customs, painting minifigures and building gunpla/girlpla. So, my name's an allusion to that.

I've had mine for over a decade and a half at this point. "Botanical" is pretty self explanatory, I enjoy botany and have always been the one people ask for identification or care tips for random flora. I also used to take care of a garden and many houseplants but that hasn't happened for quite some time. Plus it helps that I enjoy green as my favorite color :]
The "Canopus" part is a bit more lore heavy. Obviously, like many people I love learning about the universe. One of the things I learned early on (since I specifically liked learning constellations and their lore) is that Canopus is the second brightest star in the sky. I thought this was pretty apt for me because if I ever hold any responsibility/power I'd rather it be as second in command rather than the main person in charge. It is also part of a larger constellation for the Argo Navis constellation acting as the steering oar/stern which guides direction. Canopus is also said to be named after the pilot of a ship of a Spartan king. I've often been the one to give advice/help others with events in their life (mentally, emotionally, physically, & financially) so a guiding star was right up my alley.
So acting as some botanical wisdom and guidance, botanicalCanopus was born. That and since I go by Sage, botanical wisdom is almost a ironic.

"Bandersnatch Wrangler" is the name I use on fanfiction sites, but it actually started when I got my first Facebook account. I decided I didn't want them to have accurate user info for me, so I claimed I was born on Elephant Island, Antarctica; studied at the School for Scandal, and worked as a bandersnatch wrangler for Borgin and Burkes. (This was in the Before Times when I still made HP references.)

The Bandersnatch is a monster made up by Lewis Carroll. It turns up in "The Hunting of the Snark," and in the poem "Jabberwocky" in "Through the Looking Glass." About all we know about it is that it is fast, very aggressive, likes biting people and has a long neck. Oh, and it is frumious. "Wrangler" rather than "keeper" is just there for the assonance.

I had a plastic jar of applesauce begin fermenting in my fridge. I thought the term "applesauce alcohol" had a euphony to it. Use this, or variations thereof, as my username for most things since then.

It was a url slapped together for an art sideblog, and I decided to use it on MSPFA and elsewhere for consistency

honestly I do not remember. ive been called 'meow' for a long ass time by online people and uhh.. I was like "wowzers!! that's crazy I don't remember why people call me that. wait, wowzers? MEOWzers? MEOWZERS?" so meow has just stuck with me.

Phrygian writing is really interesting to me, I have a fondness for studying history and specifically mythology during an advancing bronze age. Cybele is Phygria's only known recorded goddess and is tied to the order of the Sibylline oracle.

I needed a username for an alternate Discord account, and I think I just jammed several random words in my head to make it... no idea what those words were. Eventually I just decided I liked the name more and decided to use it for my main accounts :V

Heather is just my name. Nothing special there. I felt a lot of kinship with Ava from Kingdom Hearts back in 2018 and when I found out a variation of Foreteller Ava (foreteller_ava) was free on twitter I claimed that and slowly started shifting all my usernames over to that. Now it's my brand and so I gotta be consistent and be ForetellerAva here too.

Bit of an odd username story LOL but I came up with my username in 2014, around the time of the footy World Cup that took place in Brazil. Russia had just played Algeria in the group stages and this Russian player Kokorin scored a goal in the match. I thought it sounded cool so I stole his surname to be my username. But pretty quickly people shortened it to "Koko" and it just stuck since then

i have had many different usernames over the years, but trueBug is what i used on the MSPA forums. i was gearing up to start some graduate school applications at the time, i was aspiring to become entomologist, and the true bugs (hemiptera- more specifically heteroptera) were the group i was most interested in researching. lucky for me, i got into a program and got to spend a few years looking at my favorite critters under the microscope!

my graduate thesis was on their ovipositor morphology. i got really good at drawing those things.
