Simple topic, a softball for ya.
I believe I found homestuck around 2018 after being in the Undertale fandom and hearing it was something else that Toby Fox worked on. I remember the RPG Monger video coming out around that time and I think that was what made me curious.
funny story about that: i actually tried reading it when i was, like, 10, because i was into undertale at the time and heard toby also worked on it. i had no fucking clue what was going on and i think i forgot about it shortly after either dave or jade's introduction.
i tried reading it again in i believe late 2023 because my friend kara liked it and her fanart of it was #SuperSugoi so i had no choice. i unfortunately got infatuated with a certain disabled bronzeblood and then The Horror The Horror The Horror
When I was a young lad I saw the clip of tavros dying without context on YouTube and I was scared of vriska for like a week after
Found my cousin reading it in 2018, asked what it was and read to act 4 but dropped it. Couple years later got really into Undertale and Deltarune and I saw Deltarune fans talking about it so I went back and read all of it, ended up being better than I remembered.
in 2022 I saw the video "A Brief History of Homestuck" by sarahz, and downloaded the unofficial homestuck collection because it seemed pretty up my alley. lo and behold the strongest special interest so far. here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohFyOjfcLWQ

someone was reading on a vc and i got really invested and decided to read it myself last year
discovered homestuck in 2014 because i was reading sweet bro and hella jeff in class and my friend was like "omg you read homestuck?" and i was like "uhhh..... yeah." then i clicked on a random page. then i was so embarrassed by the experience i didnt read it until 2018 when i was in a phase where i was really interested in how internet culture developed & people were talking about it because of deltarune chapter 1
OK So, there's a LOT of context here. I've been on tumblr for a while now, so I'd heard of Homestuck well before I actually read it. For some reason, I decided it would be really fucking funny to make a bit out of reacting to plot points in Homestuck while not knowing the story. I slowly kind of just.. osmosis'd some knowledge of the comic through my mutuals.
I actually got into the comic in June '24 (VERY newgen here) when one person in a discord server I'm on had a link to MSPFA in her bio. And exploring that led me.. straight to Homestuck dot com. And since hey, a lot of my friends were on the Homestuck train already, I decided to just read it. And it was all downhill from there. Y'all know how it goes.
Also I may or may not have accidentally gotten a friend to read it too. Um... oops::::P

I have the regular of my friends were into it but with a weird extra, I played Hiveswap Act 1 days after it came out without knowing it was connected to Homestuck or really what Homestuck was because I saw it was a point n click adventure game on a piracy site.
That's it, I'm gonna do what I should have done a long time ago.
I'm going to beat him to death with this hammer.
the fandoms horror stories had me intrigued, made me read it lol.
THIS MESSAGE WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY MAXI™
It was 2011 and a friend on Facebook was posting on a photo album his playthrough of [S] Past Karkat: Wake up.
Looked like a game so I got interested. By the time I was done, Cascade just released and ACT 6 would soon follow.
I was 13 at the time. So much has changed in my life since then... But I kept on reading.
an ex-friend tried to get me into it in 2020, but i just kinda forgot about it after the first pages of act 1. then in december 2024, my homegirl vivi told me to read it and i got really into it, then finished the comic around 6 months later :)
i went through like, so many favourite characters LOL. sticking with aradia though—i have the tendency to act like characters i get attached to so
The brother to a girl I had mutual feelings for in middle school introduced me to it, about when all the retcon stuff was happening.
Although I was into the characters and art I didn't end up actually fully reading it until 2021/2022 with a friend over the course of forever in a VC, giving each character their own voice and reading it all outloud
I don't remember exactly how, but it was through Deltarune, and Toby Fox. I remember trying to use the main site for reading it initially, before switching over to the unofficial collection on a dinky ChromeBook. It was quite a way to read, especially since I'm in my third re-read now. I think it was back in '23 or '22?
The gloobiness... It never stops...
i'm something of an archeologist of old fandom bullshit, so i was already well aware of homestuck since i was about thirteen, but i was tipped over the edge into reading it when i saw that toby fox had done music for it,
and now i'm here!
bassist and pianist!
i vividly remember playing Banjo Tooie in vc call, and my friends who wanted to get me into Homestuck started a read along. Suffice to say, a bear and bird are fundamentally tied to one of my favorite stories now
i got into Homestuck in...2016? maybe even a year before that, not sure - Youtube kept recommending me comic dubs and then that got me recommended cosplay skits and so on so forth until my life had been consumed. i read the comic but obviously since i was young, i didn't really understand much LOL. i've reread the comic in full like thrice now. ^_^
I must get out of here. I must get free and in this mind is the key. -Agent Smith, The Matrix
my bf and i started reading it nightly to pesterquest in 2023. we got up to act 5 act 2. later he told me that he actually just fell asleep to my voice and didn't care much but that's ok he occasionally read some of jade's lines
An ancient Roblox Youtube video with a "let's talk about Homestuck" joke that flashes on screen for like 2 frames. Not joking.
Microsoft Paint's strongest soldier.
a bunch of people i thought were cool online (on pokeheroes, if that means anything to anyone) were reading it, plus i was really into undertale, and i heard toby fox had worked on it... so surely, it couldnt be that bad!
and now it is a full decade later and im still here! unironically homestuck and its fandom changed the course of my life. almost everyone id consider important to me (positively and negatively) i met either in a homestuck-related discords server, or on msparp
