"When most people go to the movies, the ultimate compliment for them is to say 'We didn't notice the time pass!' With me, you see the time pass. And feel it pass. You also sense that this is the time that leads towards death, and that's why there's so much resistance. I took two hours of someone's life." -Chantal Akerman
Dumplings and shrimp w/ garlic sauce and veggies are my go-to choices.
Loving the variety in responses thus far!
If you were to ask me growing up my favorites would have been General Tso's Chicken and Egg Drop Soup with Wontons added >:]
Nowadays- I have been partial to Chicken w. Garlic Sauce, Shrimp Lo Mein, or Hot and Spicy Shredded Chicken (my place does it with like bamboo shoots and stuff shredded carrots and stuff, LOVE bamboo shoots).
As for Ram's dish (https://www.fruityrumpus.com/forums/reply/688e4d4204c15097ef8c72a1), I am unsure what that dish would be also, but the description of "no sauce" feels reminiscent of a dish called Chongqing Chicken or 辣子鸡 (la zi ji - meaning pepper chicken). Definitely NOT the dish you were talking about but between that and just some kinda ma la dry pot I don't know what I would call it LOL
