Beyond Canon upd8 discussion

I found Ly'lac's personality endearing. It actually surprised me, she didn't turn out to be who I expected she would be in the first few pages. She's pretty expressive, in a way I find cute. Also, I appreciate the eldritch-y horror-y vibe they have. I can see Rose's influence there, but it's also just something I enjoy generally. Maybe Dirk's species will have something to do with horses or robots? (Joking.)

I think its a huge step in the right direction, i'm overall just a big fan of everything thats been going on recently (esp that sollux plush, they turned my goat into a plushie and I couldn't resist). I'm curious as to if these sessions are doomed or how they'll interact with the Earth C kids (if at all).

reposting a theory i found on twitter, but lylac is DEFINITELY linked to horrorterrors/squiddles in some way. The hair looking like the insignia on roses shirt + all of the new information we know about her biology and/or species as a whole was definitely the nail in the coffin.

getting that out of the way, im SUPER excited to meet the rest of the cast on deltritus. i so desperately need to know more about this species they're so cool aauugh i love squiddles

tbh as a worldbuilding and sburb person this is finally right in my wheelhouse. this is my jimjam.

hell yeah sburb stuff. after 83 years of HS2, finally a bit more of what I'm here for. I'll enjoy the next update along these lines in 2044. hopefully the above squiddle theory is true, or something along those lines. it would indeed be very cool.

With Alchemy and Hexes abound in Ly’lac’s introduction, very glad to state with relative confidence that Magic Is, In Fact, Real!!!

Or at least, it is something that Nymphs could be intimately familiar with. Which makes sense, given Rose’s sorceress proclivities. I wonder if this outlook would be shared or contradicted by the Satyrs?

We have spoken to a total of One (1) representative from each species so far (Out of the 3 of each we will likely meet), but given what we see in the the narration, and Ly’lac’s description of AA’s soothsaying (from her initial introduction as GC), the Nymphs do appear to have a healthy dose of superstition in their culture.

On the topic of culture, we know not enough to make any statements regarding names. Ly’lac, of the Final Applause could be a unique monicker scheme, or not, given, again, Magic Is Real.

Potential Patterns to look out for in naming: 2’3 , 5 letter names , 6 character names , 8 syllable names (from 801/108) , Bastardized Flower Name + Epithet (sourced from their creator, Rose Lalonde, lit. Rose of the Woods )

But patterns could also be broken and I may just be a conspiracy theorist. My beautiful squid daughter could just be a freaking weirdo. Which seems likely as I do Not Trust that All Prophecies Come True as face value, and she is Full Of Slime.

Terezi already being capable of meddling in the story is interesting. She is almost certainly up to Some Bullshit here. We are likely to see other people meddling as well, stay on the lookout for commands given in unique voices!

I really liked how many clues you could find in the upd8 in order to theorize things. If we guess some patterns what if dirk's species name convention was also linked to greek mythology ? We could get Satyr or Potimoi as a name and I think the implications of what they would look like would 8e most interesting hehe.

Also if you try the file (cha.os) and shru8 in the easteregg of this we8site you get some interesting texts from TC hehe.

Personally Greek mythology also makes a lot of sense because I do think this new species of Dirks will have some connection to Pegasi. From his ship room we know he's attached to a lot of his old life so I wouldnt be surprised if any rainbow colored horses start galavanting the fields of douchery on land

third-ing the both of you!!! Greece and MLP connections for satyrs would make a lot of sense I think. Someone will probably(not) have something similar to rainbowdash going on.

I'm so excited/scared to see what satyrs look like, given how "Rose" Ly'lac looks we can expect that the satyrs are going to be very "Dirk" which could mean more than a few things since his tastes and personality traits are pretty eclectic.

For those not in the know, Satyr is the name of Dirk's species.

So the two new species will be Satyrs and Nymphs, with the Omega kids probably coming in eventually thanks to Helltier Vriska.

I think Ly’lac’s “hair” might be a sentient creature. It moves when she has her introduction. Overall really excited to see where this goes. Going to get to ripping the sprites from the new pages ASAP.

So far loving the upd8s! I can't wait for more to analyze. Also the nymphs' arms remind me of coral for whatever reason

I think we can deduce some things about the greater session based on the chat client. We have CT basically confirmed as a satyr now. I assume the rest of them will have the same names but backwards (CT, CG, GT, GA) since every session so far has included both.

This makes it so that the two groups guided by light players provide the template Dirk’s group reflects, which I think is cool and thematic.

Also for symmetry’s sake I think this confirms Yiffy using TT - the argument for CG predicts all the omega kids having handles ending in G, but the nymphs’ all end in C except for a lone AA, just like Yiffy would be as TT. I know this is getting really in the weeds, I‘m just really excited to have more information.

BUT. I really have no idea where things could go, considering the NYMPH ARROW has 6 LINES instead of the 4 you’d expect from our 4 nymphs???? So all of that might just be bullshit.
