Ancestor/Dancestor Appreciation Thread!

if you guys haven't listened to the unofficial 'tomb of the ancestors' album i would totally recommend, it has a track for each of the ancestors and it's sooo good. i thought it was official for years but it really hits the vibe for all of them super well, one of my favourite fanworks ever

yeah i get why some headcanons can be useful for characterization, but i feel like ancestor characterization specifically needs to be based off the dancestors, and vice versa for the beta trolls and the alpha ancestors. for example i think it makes a lot of sense for kankri to have been culled by a highblood alpha ancestor, my personal guess being alpha eridan. im of the opinion he took some of alpha eridan's better talking points (he would be a pretty aggressive public speaker/protestor) and got them fucked up in his cringefail twitter user brain to better serve his personal motivations and desires

I'm not a big dancestor person (although I love both Aranea and Meenah) but man, the ancestors are the best! Their story was absolutely captivating to me ever since I read Homestuck for the first time. Watching the animation "After Us" by ToastyGlow definitely didn't hurt ;)

I have nothing big to say but I absolutely LOVE most of the Dancestors and Ancestors, I do wish more effort was put into fleshing more of them out but I'm still pretty happy with what we got. I am a big big fan of Horuss/Darkleer, Mituna/The Ψiioniic, Kankri/Signless, and Porrim/Dolorosa but I like them all

aw mann i <3 the d/ancestors sm!! recently stumbled upon this rly cool fan au called beforus nexus, its a meenkri centric au which i think is pretty funny cause?? what a unique ship but anyways the art and animations the op has done for their au is absolutely beautiful!! they go by marinaraimpasta on yt and twt and like,, omg i cant stress enuff at how good their art is. i used to be pretty neutral abt kankri but their art has made me like him a lot!

Aranea is probably the most intriguing character in all of homestuck for me. Like obviously there are deeper and more interesting characters, hell even amongst the dancestors Meenah gets SO much more development across homestuck and beyond canon, but in terms of her whole vibe, her impact on the story, and then how post retcon she's just,,, GONE. Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but she's the only character we never see again after the retcon. And the fact that she's the only character whose FRAF entry is just... LITERALLY. NOT EVEN ........???????? I can't talk about Aranea for too long without losing my mind lmao

I ind Arenea interesting 'cos our early impressions of her are so misleading. She seems sensible and pleasant, if a bit stuffy and long-winded. Then it turns out she has a hidden knack for authentically Serketian hubris and mayhem. Makes you wonder what the other dancestors have been hiding.

I think this might be because she's been dead for so long? that obviously changes a person. We know from Mindfang that what happens in Game Over isn't exactly unusual for her haha
