The Orb: Little Fluffy Clouds is a trance classic that I've pulled many all-nighters too!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxi5vBnhQu0 Curve: Superblaster is from a suprisingly prolific industrial shoegaze band that predates even Garbage! It's also quite a jam!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iac-vLq6tnY Steely Dan: Deacon Blues, I really love the lyrics, and wish it was less embarrassing to sing along with. Die behind the wheel!
Hopefully we'll be able to send proper clickable links someday soon, but in the meantime, you can copy-paste the YouTube links into your browser bar, or search the track name on Spotify/what have you :D

Bomb the Music Industry! - Sleep Thru Monday
i'm a super big fan of BtMI! and I have been constantly surprised by the amount of just like, STUFF they have. like if you look under your couch cushions you'd find some random project from them levels. i first found this song 9 months ago while just looking around, but I kinda forgot about it until i listened to the Vacation demos last night and this song came on and I was just like... holy moly this song is crazy. love the instrumentation, got a really nice crunch i can always fw. jeff's vocal performance on the chorus in particular elevates it up SOOOO fucking much it's awesome. and overall it's just a super nice song, somehow not in their top 10 songs ever though just because BtMI! has so many good songs across every album they have.

Wolf Gets Red Faced - White Fence
I love this guy's stuff. If you like 60's-80's alternative rock, check him out! Love the guitarwork here. It's overall a lovely listen by a criminally underrated artist who manages to capture some retro vibes wayyyy after they faded out of the mainstream.

I Saw An Angel - Puzzle
This is the song that reignited my love for music. I spent most of my childhood listening to random video game OSTs (Nintendo-oriented usually), and whatever my mother had on the radio on the way to school. Nothing really interested me, so when I eventually earned the right to drive legally, I sat in silence. That was until I got this lovely thing on my YouTube recommended mid-way through high school. It was new, it was light, it was different, and I love this song so deeply. There's not much to it, it just makes me happy and brings me back to a time when life was a bit more joyous. Highly recommend the entire Puzzle library!
re: Sleep Thru Monday
FLAMES!! I love this sort of vocal style and the shreds r like crazy impressive??? I'm definitely adding this to my rotation :D
re: Wolf Gets Red Faced
The guitar tone on this is really nice and I'm fucking loving the drumfills. I'm a sucker for this type of thing in fact. It's so perfectly 70's! What do you mean it was made in 2014?!

Yes - Close To The Edge
No music thread is complete without a freak who will send a really long prog rock song. I am that freak. I love it here. Feel free to skip this one if you aren't in the right space for it, but Close To The Edge is one of the best pieces of music ever written and I heartily recommend it to anyone who likes psych-rock or prog or weird guitar or life or rivers or crying in the sunshine.

Beautiful Katamari OST - Sayonara Rolling Star
IK it's video games music but like, I really really like this song. The OST of basically every Katamari Game is fucking phenomenal, but this song, the sort of not really sequel to Lonely Rolling Star holds a special place in my heart.

music when the lights go out - the libertines
at risk of seeming like a completely pretentious hipster who shills music thats entirely too popular than what he insists id like to share this here because i quite enjoy the drums and vocals
i really do love that whiny tone that you mostly get with english artists for some reason can you tell i enjoy the smiths

accidente - las ligas menores
such a beautiful mellow song with a catchy instrumental and lyrics about movin on
i show this song to people when they ask about the latin rock i like
cheers
re: Music When The Lights Go Out
One of the most british songs i have ever heard (in an extremely positive way), like a halfway point between pre-drugs Beatles and early Arctic Monkeys. I dig it.
re: Sayonara Rolling Star
wooooow the katamari game has a great soundtrack what a surprise! /sarc. I'm mostly familiar with the first game and the sequel, but it's good to know the sequels after continue the tradition of featuring espectacular music.

Urusei Yatsura - Fake Fur
A really great indie rock tune! i love these guys despite them being pratically unknown outside of scottish indie circles.

Boredoms - B for Boredoms
The sound of pure insanity, somehow both a pretty genius song and a huge shitpost at the same time, that's Boredoms baby .
(PS. the guy in my profile picture is the bands frontman Yamatsuka Eye, he rocks!!!)

Os Mutantes - A Minha Menina
Probably my favorite song from the famous brazilian musical moviment Tropicália, mixing some incredible samba rhythms with some incredibly psychedelic guitar tones.

re: Os Mutantes - A Minha Menina
this is absolutely fucking gorgeous. It's what I imagined beck's album guero probably sounded like when I hadn't heard his music in years. I love the vocal harmonies in this piece soooo much...! They add so much texture to an otherwise pretty gritty track :D

One of the biggest smithsheads --> yes i agree this track is very cute
I continue this Smiths chain by raising you my favourite one of theirs: Rubber Ring

But don't forget the songs that made you cry - And the songs that saved your life
Anyway I'm currently listening to wayyy to much Frank Black for my own good so here's Men in Black

Until next time....
I've been bumping the latest David Byrne single recently. It's a little trite, but i think it's in a cute way. I didn't fw it at first but it's really grown on me--the instrumentation is really reminiscent of Glass, Concrete, and Stone at points imo. good stuff!

re: Close To The Edge
Damn, I came here to post this. Glad to see someone did so already lol. Siberian Khatru is one of my favorite songs, ever. The whole album is so good, too.
Here's the one that's been stuck in my head the whole day:

Meu Erro - Os Paralamas do Sucesso
Yet another song by a brazilian rock band. Not sure what to say. I quite like it.
And that's about it.
re: rubber ring
such incredible bass on the song andy rourke is a phenomenal musician
in songs where i feel the bass is more prominent such as this one i think morrisseys vocals compliment it nicely
cheers
hell yes a music thread, thank you so much
anyway i've been listening to so so much mac dre over the past few days,

re: White Fence - Wolf Gets Red Faced (umbrella)
absolutely love the vibes in this one. it feels like a song i'd hear at a goodwill, which is good. also that album cover is SO SICK WTF
re: Urusei Yatsura - Fake Fur (Henry)
OHHH THIS IS MY SHIT! THIS IS MY SHIT!!!!!! absolutely LOVE the sound of this and i will be adding to the #rotation. the main vocalist scratches that itch for me exactly it's awesome

Los Campesinos! - You! Me! Dancing!
i remember first hearing this song as the finale in a little collab called Doors 3! which is honestly the starting point for my modern music taste. everything about this song just fucking slams and radiates good vibes; the sick intro that has a slow lead-up into a sicker guitarline, the chorus that incorporates violins and glockenspiels and all sorts of cool stuff that somehow manages to add on without muddying it, the fucking TRANSITION TO THE OUTRO AND ONWARD WHICH IS SO GOOD!!! just a masterpiece of a song, like every time i listen to this song i just feel better. it's in my top 10 most scrobbled songs on last.fm (268 plays as of today) which is absolutely insane for a 7 minute long song

re: Yes - Close To The Edge
Props to you for being the brave prog poster. I saw a Pink Floyd cover band play through DSOTM on a beautiful day in the park and it was pretty god damn sick. Anyways, I was never really a big Yes fan- more of a King Crimson kind of gal. But everyone knows King Crimson so:
Here’s black midi - John L
https://youtu.be/GT0nSp8lUws
I fucking LOVED black midi for the short little run they had. It’s unfortunate they disbanded relatively quickly but I guess being ephemeral is on-brand for proggy groups. The frontman does his own stuff, but it’s sort of like Serj’s solo stuff to SOAD in my opinion. It’s the sum of its parts. Anyways, give their album Hellfire a try if you haven’t already and like this. It’s a super fun record.

I LOVE MOLCHAT DOMA GUYS!!!! Theyre a Belarusian band, you may know them from their song Судно, was really popular around 2020 i think, but all their songs are super duper good really recommend if you like gothy rock alternative music!!
I also really like The Front Bottoms and have like 67 of their songs liked on spotify... big fan :))))
But if you guys don't know them, you'll know Hozier, HES SO.. YES.. i love his music very dearly and seeing him live was incredible...
An eye for an eye makes the world go blind,

ough everypony listen to sidney gish her music has a jade harley feel to it imo and her album art is silly

i tell you hwhat that black midi song that was posted 2 days ago was preeetty good, and well i hope that whoever decides to listen to the one i'm gonna post enjoys it too

re: yanopi
I used to really into Japanese city-pop when I was younger but not so much anymore, very enjoyable listen tho!! Even if I'm not into it as much nowadays it's still a damn fun genre to listen to cuz of how lightweight and flashy it feels lol
Now for my stuff, since I'm super nerdy about music all the time I have like 4 songs I wanna share but they're all pretty different so it works out lmao
- First one is "Hi-Tech Jazz (The Science)" by Galaxy 2 Galaxy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tljseZ1Q0UM), a pretty funky techno-Jazz track that has absolutely taken over my brain the last few weeks, I physically can't listen to it without getting up and dancing or at the very least bobbing my head
- Second one is "Crush" by fakemink (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8LYedUf1k4), a real catchy song that feels like a cross between jerk rap and hyperpop. I've heard the name fakemink going around a lot lately, especially among my friends, and figured I'd check the guy out and goddamn am I happy I did lol
- Third one is "Shadout Mapes" by Jacob & I (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFDxMK0GJ6o), a very unique math rock EP on account of the fact that the three members of the band are a drummer and two bassists, no guitar. This was really the only thing they put out but they had a fair few fans back in the late MySpace days! There's one video online of them either recording for the EP or playing it live (I can't really tell) if you can find it
- Fourth one is "Project Pat" by Nettspend (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJCsVA9nq1M), another indie rap song produced by the same guy who produced Crush (wegonebeok, usually just "ok"), I'm sure Nettspend is more of a meme-ish artist for most people due to that one video of him awkwardly hitting a money spread in his bathroom while looking at himself in the mirror and making random hand motions towards the camera to one of his songs, but I can assure you he's been up to much more than that since then, like this album he released at the tail-end of 2024
Happy listening!! <3
