Biggest, most favorite aspect of making fankids for me that I feel goes underappreciated is giving them their funny little bedrooms. There's just so much you can say about a character by the things they surround themself with! If you've made a BEDROOM for your OC before, or any room for that matter, please share below! Xo]

ah, ive done a number of them

theyre always pretty intensive to make whenever i need to make them, but they can be fun. i dont have to make rooms often tho so i dont have many presentable examples. also for some reason a lot of my older rooms have really funny perspective and scaling issues its kinda funny to look at how comedically small the kidsprite is in relation to their surroundings

THESE ARE SO MANY ROOMS??? These look fantastic! <3

Teehee, I've had the same issue with earlier rooms struggling a bit with perspective and scale. Nowadays it's become habit to have an isometric guide up and at least one random kid's sprite pulled up on a locked layer just for size reference, AND THE DIFFERENCE FROM BEFORE AND AFTER THOSE HABITS ARE PRETTY NOTICEABLE...

A black-and-white loosely isometric drawing of a family supplies closet, featuring a shelf with several cleaning supplies, a few storage bins/baskets/boxes, and a washer and dryer up against the walls.

An isometric outdoors rough sketch/guide of a lighthouse with a small annex attached to the side on the ground-level.

knew there was a thread for this!

quite fond of rooms. :) i don't usually make that many, especially now since i've just recently regained my fire for spriting and doing homestuck art. but i still got quite a bit of those!

posting some below (if you can excuse the cropped views and reduced colours.. i like to have these big shots panel style);

also working on a room for myself right now. which would be like. my real room, but not really. still got quite a bit to add, a window, my desk, some phernalia and clutter here and there (currently looking for a way to get a wardrobifier to put in it, since i think that would be a nice addition instead of a normal wardrobe). but i'm liking it a lot so far! the process of making a room has been soothing to revisit.

I'm not an artist, but I'm quite pleased with Skulder's room from my ongoing fic "Team Madrigog". Most of my other alien kids have been really bad about not exploring their rooms.

It's a long, narrow space with two "bedtubs" built into the wall, kind of like a two-tier bathtub. She sleeps in the top tub; her Guild master (the closest thing she has to a parent)used to sleep in the bottom one. There's a sinister poster of a temple, a flying saucer and [gasp!] a human, showing her fondness for conspiracy theories. The kitchenette counter is covered in cheap spy gadgets. She knows they're garbage, but they have sentimental value. There is also a pair of reading glasses which is actually her main computer. In the middle of the room is a coffee table piled high with fast-food containers from a nearby paella truck, and the place ain't exactly clean. All the clothes in the tiny built-in wardrobe are yellow, which in her culture is the colour of sadness. She's the local equivalent of a Goth.

If you go out one door you find yourself in a driver's cab; out the other door, you're on the rear deck. Her home is a tiny house-sleigh, currently tied to a radio mast on a near-featureless plain of ice. The roof is stacked with freeze-dried giant cockroaches which she feeds to Dasher and Prancer, her beloved twenty-foot-long velvet worms who pull the sleigh.

forgot to update, but finally finished my self-insert room.

quite happy with it! though still adding to it every so often. feel like a cozy-cramped sort of look will be nice to get after i reach the point where i got lots of goodies in it.
