Favorite character?

personally, i think i enjoy the lalondes the most, mainly rose. she's just a very interesting character to me personally.

My favorite character is Kanaya. This will sound crazy to the modern reader, but, believe it or not, there was once a time when Kanaya was an important figure in the story. It was pretty inspiring, as a lesbian coming into her own at the time, to have a lesbian character who was so cool, out there winning hearts and chainsawing the unworthy.

My fav is definitely Nepeta. To this day, she is still my favorite autism rep in just about any media.

Now I would normally start saying "she did nothing wrong," but uh... we know what she did, I'll cut her slack, she did what she thought was right, which wasn't, and ended horribly. However, I do not believe that she should have gotten sidelined like that, or any of the pre-scratch trolls for that matter.

Although in HS1 theres not much to her, despite being sassy queen, in HSBC I think she has alot of great thematic parallels with Jane. Both being Life players, a Maid whos supposed to give Life but instead takes it away, a Thief thats supposed to take Life but ends up giving it, both eventually finding their place as leaders long after abandoning it, Jane who hated the condense but ended up becoming her, and Meenah who was supposed to and wanted to be HIC but ended up going against her Heir, Meenah actually properly fighting for her people and her of of all people being the landmark to keep Karkat grounded. All great stuff.

When I first got into Homestuck more than a decade ago, hot on the heels of Openbound being hot off the presses, I had initially taken a liking to Dave, as one does.

Then I discovered Jake, and I have been rooting for him ever since. This seems to be a surprisingly niche opinion, as I’ve seen past fandom surveys rank him and Jane as the two least popular human players (or at least the ones with the fewest people proclaiming them as their favorites). Maybe he’s an acquired taste, or maybe I just have bad taste.

jake!! and grandpa harley by extension, i seriously adore both of them. i like all of the homestuck characters though, rose and calliope are a close second and third.

Aranea fascinates me. Her pre-Game Over hijacking of the narrative lining up with the Gigapause and all the weird friction she has with the rest of the cast makes it seem like she is fatally derailing the comic in a way it never recovers from. She's sort of a cross between the Greek myth of Arachne and that cartoon Coyote from Animal Man who tries to transcend his role in the story and is cut down for it.

I like Gamzee, Caliborn, and most of the enemies within homestuck. I like the otherguys okay too i guess.

It's Calliope, will always be Calliope, and I love her. She is perfect and deserves the world.

It's a pretty close race between Davesprite and Terezi, but i think i probably have to hand to Terezi, if only for her character arc actually being completed.
