i think the reason is very simple: homestuck is kind of old, and people are coming back to it out of nostalgia and stuff. the youngins are still discovering homestuck, yes, but the original audience is still there.
yknow, sometimes i wonder what it'll be like for homestuck decades in the future. maybe the newer wave of teenage homestucks will come back out of nostalgia lol. i tend to joke a lot about homestuck being taught in schools centuries in the future like it's shakespeare.

i guess most of the fandom is old because they were there when stuff happened. i was!
when you get older your interests kind of fluctuate around coming back and being idle. it's normal.
just because you are an adult, doesnt mean you stop liking stuff.
