what do you see in him? he is my least favorite of the main trolls and i dont see any redeeming qualities. why do you like him i am curious
they are one little repressed fish. a therapist's nightmare.
also an angry 13 year with a gun and a somewhat manipulative moirail.
He's endearingly pathetic but also shitty enough that you can't actually pity him. Just makes for funny
I liked when he got chainsaw murdered by an awesome vampiress
>eats somewhere other than olive garden once
>fucking dies
Honestly I just think he's funny. He's extremely overdramatic and dumb and I began liking him ironically until it wasn't ironic anymore.
meep
His lack of redeeming qualities make for a good redeeming quality itself. Honestly he's just pretty entretaining.
I like him because you don't like him. He's a hateful outcast in a story filled with characters who deserve to be hated.

Damn, this thread didn't get past the first response without somebody attacking Feferi. That might be a record.
Magic is FAKE AS SHIT/FUCKING REAL
He's not one of my favorite characters but I do find myself feeling sorry/feeling for him. He's needy and desperate and annoying, but I think his feelings of abandonment, how badly he's hurting, and the vulnerability he shows really resonate with people. His whole aesthetic is cool (he lives in a giant shipwreck ffs) and the imagery of him hunting with Feferi toward the beginning is amazing.
I also think people can find how mopey he is to be kind of endearing, and I always read his phrasing in chat logs as a Cockney dialect/accent, which also adds to this very specific vibe and image I have of him.
His quote when talking to Kanaya that goes something like "it's hard, Kan. Being a kid. It's hard and no one understands" is simple but profound in this heartbreaking way. It reminds a lot of people about how hard life is at that stage where everything and everyone around you is changing and you're hurt and scared and angry and dealing with stuff like unrequited feelings.
Like I said, he's not my favorite character or even in my top five, but from all of the discussion, fanart, and fanfiction about him, that's what I gather.
feferi is just as complicit in all the lusii murder as eridan. that was pretty fucked up. however, they are all children. also fucked up, none of theses kids should be orphaning people in order to appease an eldritch squid god.
everyoone single troll (except karkat somehow) has something fucked up with them.
Eridan, from the face of it, seems to be some sort of irredeemable genocidal bastard, but if you look deeper into it, you see he is the single biggest example of someone Broken by Alternian society. He had to learn that killing was nothing or else everyone would die. His entire character is a massive mess of mental contradictions and cognitive dissonance, and I feel like he definitely could've been used better in the comic.
Hiya. Just a random question, but you know what a majority vote is?
RE:Artificer - not to get too off topic too quickly, but I think addressing what our standards are for a nastyboy is a relevant benchmark for the thread - "except karkat"? that kid was like the most eager out of all of them to do murders for the state
>eats somewhere other than olive garden once
>fucking dies
I cant help but find him so fucking funny. He is such a fucking loser LOL.
I can fix him. /silly
Here’s my personal, lukewarm take.
Like all of the trolls, I think it’s important to remember Eridan started with an internet personality caricature. Especially as a generational peer to Hussie (I’m the same age as Toby Fox, for perspective) I felt like I either met or WAS all of these garbo people as a tween/teen growing up on the wee internet.
NOT to say that we should forgive or excuse sh-tty behavior, but just to say that their cringey flaws are relatable. I certainly said, did, and thought some godawful things when I was 13. I was also raised in a toxic environment— caustic and rigid family religion, hard right politics. What I’m getting at is, I can see parts of myself in Eridan and vice versa, and it’s TRAGIC. I love him, but I don’t I think he’s justified or makes good choices. I understand him and I want to shake him and, well, fix him. The tragedy of Eridan (AND FRANKLY, A LOT OF THE CHARACTERS!) is that we can see them walking towards the precipice but we can’t save them. We can see why he does what he does — even if we don‘t agree with him. I appreciate that in a character a lot more than “bluh, I am BAD GUY (tm) and I do BAD THINGS! END OF STORY!”
Also. He‘s funny. What an overdramatic lil dork.

Violet is a wonderful color and he's just so silly 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️
he sucks and its funny lets kill him again
My real life name is like 2 letter off from his name, I'm an Aquarius irl, and my friend jokingly compared me to him once so now I'm forced to accept that this fuckass fish is literally me
