poppyseedpets is a web-browser based pet simulator game. every hour, your pet(s) does something different. they can explore the island they live in, meet other pets in the game, make items, gather materials & food, etc.
the artstyle is really charming,and its originally what drew me in. if the name psypets rings any bells, it's also made by the same guy who originally made psypets (benmakesgames), and he brought back some of the best things of psypets
it may be a hard game to latch into, so if you are a new player or someone who dropped the game due to lack of goals but wants to get back into it, i'll leave a list of goals/things to strive for here. order mostly doesn't matter:
* unlock all the unlockable places in the menu (ESPECIALLY THE BASEMENT)
* donate all food items to the museum ( at the time i'm writing this, there are 481 foods in poppyseedpets)
* get one of each species of pet and then show them to the zoologist
* try to get as many badges for each pet as possible (badge-maxxing i just came up with this)
* fully lower the renaming scroll price in the bookstore
* manage to keep your fireplace burning for 1 week, 1 month, 1 year etc etc (easier with the dragon den)
i started playing years ago, so if you're a new player i really recommend quickly finding ways to make moneys fast, such as finding out which sport your pet best performs at since if a pet ends up on the winning team, you can receive a good amount of moneys from it. you just have to keep your pets well-petted and well-fed for them to participate, but when you get a rod it gets easier to get tons of food like fish. also recommend figuring out what your pets favorite flavor is

ALSO, MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE HOUSE FAIRY. DO NOT DONATE HER TO THE MUSEUM. THE FLAVORTEXT IS NOT WORTH IT. IT'S IMPORTANT FOR GAME PROGRESSION 😭
at the time i'm posting this thread, we are really close to the halloween event, so make sure to stockpile on candy foods if you'd like to give your pets hats (every 15 given to other pets gets you a free behatting scroll. stock up on these)
