I've been meaning to play Psycholonials for years but I just never got around to it. I think I'm gonna start reading it soon but I just wanted to know if there was anything I needed to know before I play? Like, do I need to keep multiple saves, is this the kinda game I need to keep notes for, that sorta thing.
i will figure out a good signature. Eventually.

Nope! Its a completely linear game, go in blind and have a blast. I would recommend a chapter or two per session.
