YIIK is my favorite game, and as it seems public perception on it has shifted since the I.V update came out, I'd love to hear from people about their opinions on the game/experiences playing it! I have a feeling it'd likely have a big overlap with Homestuck enjoyers, given how esoteric both are :V

YES!!!!!!!! yiik is my favorite rpg i love how surreal and weird it is
Yiik is soooooooo good. Its so Homestuckular. I got so obsessed for a bit that I even read the tie-in novels.... they just finished releasing the second one on their discord

jokes aside a while back i looked into it but that was mostly videos shitting on the game
id like to hear the other side of people who like it
"Ok, but your teen years will be ruined just because you didn't buy an egg."
PIIK I.V
seriously i was obsessed with the game when the update came out and was keeping up with the novels for a while. its definitely a work for the #realreaders theres just so so much to think about with the game i hope it gets its flowers by the general public some day
@skyplayer
I read the first deviation perspective book but haven't read the second one yet, but it seems really interesting!! I adored the first one a lot. YIIK has, for a while, been one of my biggest obsessions ever LOL. I just bought keychains of every character by an artist named EZCAT :3
I have so many thoughts on the characters and world

@meulanie
The game got a lot of flack on release for like- basically no reason? Mostly people calling it pretentious because they didn't understand it. That and weird baseless assumptions about the people who made it.

been playing yIIk for myself recently. i actually quite enjoyed the new battle system after i got used to it, and the new presentation of the game is kind of fascinating. i dont know how to put it, it almost feels like its making a commentary on the idea of yIIk itself. i havent gotten past act 2 yet tho, but im curious to experience the rest of it
seeing how drastically different it is from the original version is funny tho. Damn that game used to be clunky
"come on charlie brown, i'll hold the ball and you'll kick it!"
also regarding the reception of the game i cant really blame people for not liking it because the writing was not the Greatest, from what ive heard. and also the gameplay itself just did not look fun tbh.

Yeah, the thing about YIIK's writing is that you were always supposed to find Alex's narration goddamn insufferable. But the game never really mad that fully clear. But as of I.V, fully unchanged Alex narration now is easily understood as Alex's flawed perspective, because you now start as a little girl in an abstract world, and those sections are written Completely Different. So when you meet Alex and he does his internet chud i hate my mom and everything revolves around me schtick, you instantly pick up on the fact its HIM being a piece of shit, not necessarily the writers.

@dragondreams
None of the writing has been altered in I.V!! And, "commentary on the idea of YIIK itself" is honestly a rlly good summary of a lot of the game, it's very cool.

@dare0451
Yeah, I think the inclusion of the perspectives of other characters does a LOT to point out how skewed Alex's perspective is. Whether it be Nameless, or the new Michael scenes which are completely tonally different from Alex's POV. It really puts a spotlight on Alex as a dude and how insufferable and strange he is, and the way he's portraying his friends and family.

the I.V update was the one thing this game needed to become peak, I’m so glad the creators finally listened to the feedback they got from the media and made the game TRULY better. I played the first 5 hours of the game pre-I.V update and I had to put it down because of Alex’s dialogue taking too long to actually get to the point. I might pick it up again and start over to see how I feel about it. Into the Mind is still a peak song thoug!
@dbnet18music
the thing about I.V is that it doesn't change yiik's script, it mostly changes the presentation over anything else. and i think that presentation makes worlds of difference. also Into the Mid is alright but it stands out as a really unfitting track in an OST that i think is extremely strong and consistent otherwise
Yea, I'm also not the biggest Into The Mind fan lol. My favorite track is probably Fix My Self Hatred With A Haircut, or maybe the fishing theme from Y2K II

@insomniacatgirl
my favorites are definitely Little Eyes, Puzzle Pieces, and anything with Machine and the Krow in it. also Your Dreamed Connections is real good, i sampled it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orip488IXAA) alongside a cover/remix of upward movement someone was working on in umspaf
@tidaltempest (amazing username btw, I love Sonic CD)
Basically all of the lyrical tracks hold an honest to god special place in my heart. I can sing most of them off the top of my head. Puzzle Pieces absolutely rules!

I FUCKING LOVE YIIK!!!! i first got into it a few years back when i watched one video criticizing it that quickly turned into an ironic morbid fascination -> genuine appreciation for what the game was trying to do. i was so happy when i.v dropped...... i can finally recommend it to friends without paragraphs of "okay this game sucks but trust me there's something there" beforehand... and as a michael fan since he was a character who said one line and went quiet for 3 hours, i was overjoyed to see how much more i.v focused on him,.. augh yiik is so special to me. alex is the worst and i love him
it's my first day at gay high school i hope they dont realize im straight
goddd I'm SO happy to find more PIIK enjoyers!!!!
Yes, @slugreaction, Michael is in fact one of the best characters. I always knew something interesting was going on with him, from Proto-Michael to the implications he's not really Michael to the whole idea of him being "stitched into reality for dramatic effect" from the remake of the Golden Alpaca fight. He is such an interesting character and the fact they expanded on ALL OF THAT drives me crazy!!!

i havent played YIIK all i know is that the guy who made TOME voices Alex... and that the TOME RPG is referenced in it as a poster
not sure if it was this official art that was used but i know somewhere the RPG is referenced in some character's room via poser
Just one day... I want to say to you
