If the goal here was to funnel more people into HSOD, I don't think it worked. The Bluesky post telling people to come to HSOD's stage (which looks hastily thrown together) has two replies; One from a user saying "I'm at max servers so I can't join", and another from someone who says she's banned for reasons she does not understand (and apparently tried the ban appeal but got no response.) Neither of them seem particularly distraught about not being able to join HSOD, though.
Despite everything I said, I do feel bad for FRS. This isn't the worst "controversy" they've been through (I think it barely even registers as such,) but everyone seems to agree they dropped the ball. And I'm sure they're feeling pretty bad that they dropped the ball on the biggest update they've put out... possibly ever? Hopefully they can at least use the lessons they learned today to make future releases better.
