This is explained: John's computer when he first uses it indicates that it is 4:13 PM, so he's already been to school. Due to time zones, it is even later for Dave and Rose.

It's also entirely plausible that Dave and/or Rose do not go to school in the first place. Though equally plausible that they do. Or sometimes do.
