This is explained: John's computer when he first uses it indicates that it is 4:13 PM, so he's already been to school. Due to time zones, it is even later for Dave and Rose.
It's also entirely plausible that Dave and/or Rose do not go to school in the first place. Though equally plausible that they do. Or sometimes do.
where else would they be? in the woods?? rose is kinda close to a national park i used to live a few hours away from she could go hiking

it's like 4 pm at the start of the comic, so it would likely be just after they'd have gotten home from school. they're a bunch of nerdy kids with no irl friends, it makes sense that they'd spend their time playing video games with each other.
dave probably doesn't even go to school because i don't think it would've been high on bro's priorities. he did learn what a fridge was meant for from movies after all. as for rose (assuming you meant rose and typed jade by mistake) it was night for her. you don't really go out at night, especially when you live in the middle of the woods near an evil laboratory. i certainly wouldn't

What makes the most sense for me for Rose is that she is indeed enrolled in a school in the town 40 minutes away, but Roxy is simply drunk too often to actually drive Rose for 40 minutes twice every day so she ends up missing a lot of class (which prevents her from forming irl connections, a "homestuckness" which all the guardians are responsible for in their own ways, ways which don't even require the kids to not be enrolled in school except for Jade obvs). It's all a pretty elegant extrapolation from the premises given.
Like with Dave too it's not completely inconceivable that Dirk enrolled him in school. But because of his home life he probably can't relate to any of the kids anyway, so he turns to the internet, and so Dirk is still responsible for the "homestuckness".
Though Roxy and Dirk just not caring about school is always plausible. It's just a touch more interesting this way.
Also if my US geography is correct Rose is like 3 hours ahead of John and she talks about it being well into the evening at one point. (Also 4/13/2009 was easter monday but idk if that's a universal school holiday in the states like it is in canada
