I love Jade! She's so fun to draw. And I love how weird she is; the oddball guardian, strange house, her prophetic visions... wonderful character. No comment on her HS:BC characterization because I'm not familiar with it. Anyway, she's fun, and her unique upbringing gives a lot of opportunity for interesting stories, comics, fanfic, etc.

I'm torn on Jane, personally! Some of my favorite fanfic authors have done well with her, and in-canon, she's... fine. Never personally latched onto her. I think I just don't like the thing she has with Jake. I like the romance aspects of Homestuck, but at a certain point, ugh! Too much.
