Discussion of Andrew Hussie's manuscript for a flippant harry potter parody that never was. Spoilers ahead probably.
Any other souls on earth read this thing? Because I found it fantastic and really funny. It deserves to have at least some of the attention all of Hussie's other works get. I'd really like to know others thoughts on where the story may have gone as well, or speculation on what we didn't get explained.
i'm in the middle of a read right now. it's been a very fun time so far! but unfortunately i haven't gotten far enough in to make any real judgement on it. in due time...
Okay I'll post more about this in the morning but I will never get over Roxy's copy of Wizardy Herbet actually being set after the end of the leaked draft. like. This is where the story WOULD HAVE GONE. It's 100% contiguous and in character for every single one of them it's insane.
I did that thing that one time!

Genuinely I think it's one of those things that not only enhances Homestuck proper's reading experience with how much is clearly derived from Wizardy Herbert, but I say with full clarity to anybody who hasn't checked out Wizardy Herbert and is reading this, it's probably one of Hussie's best works. The ideas and concepts it introduces, alongside the twists are actual fucking masterclasses. For any erisol fans reading this, Herbert x Russet is like the progenitor of erisol considering Herbert is for sure a primitive proto-sollux and Russet is essentially just Eridan but cooler.
I loved it and it’s about my 2nd favorite work by Hussie, wish it was finished the cliff hanger broke me

I could not agree more. When I reached the end I genuinely scrolled up and down like 20 times in desperate hopes that my browser was just lagging. I knew it wasn't....
I read it a long, long time ago, I'm due for a reread. I remember liking it a lot though, there's a still some moments that have stuck with me. Like seeing all the White House stuff in the Epilogues...
Irreversibly altered me as pretty much everything Andrew has made. Russet and Herbert are some of my favorite characters in anything. Frankly kind of unreal for such a short unfinished story to have such a massive impact. I've read trilogies that I recall less of than Wizardy Herbert and The Mobius Slipknot.
Great way to sum up the WH reading experience, honestly. I can literally never hear or see the word wizard the same after the WH definition of it lmao. "You're a wizard Harry" has been permanently shifted to be Hagrid insulting a young boy for no fucking reason
I went to check this thing out and immediately clocked the 200 page length- not the deepest in the hole i’ve been for hussie works but this is a commitment

the fact that its unfinsihed... make me wanna scream ... i was looking everywhere for new content by hussie that i havent already seen ... alas
I think the thing with WH is that like, even though it's unfinished it's still like, fucking amazing? I'd rather WH have no ending than a shitty one (which wouldn't have happened because that was back when hussie was still an incredible writer instead of a just okay writer)
Glad to see WH is alive in the minds of at least a few others today. I haven't seen much discussion or mention of it online anywhere in a good while. It sheds a lot of light upon how the ideas that came to exist in homestuck were first concepted and developed. Roxy's excerpts are interesting, although I'm unsure as to whether they were meant to take place later in the original WH, or in a theoretical sequel, considering how I don't see how the events of those would really fit into the story. The abrupt ending of WH seems to imply that Grant stole and escaped using the slipknot, which Herbert and Beatrix seem to have used themselves in Roxy's fic, which doesn't really line up. But who really knows how the story will go when it comes to Hussie's works.
I don't think it's entirely out of the realm of possibility that it would be a continuation rather than a sequel. I could see Grant/Slinus somehow getting his hands on a "duplicate" so to speak of the slipknot via some NOT TIME TRAVEL bullshit where Slinus remembers that he hid it somewhere as Grant after Grant stole it. Kinda worded that like shit but something along those lines.
