I feel like I'm relatively new compared to a lot of the fans I see, I'm just about approaching my 2nd year anniversary of starting homestuck for my girlfriend's birthday. I was meaning to read it anyways because Undertale is my favourite game of all time and it wouldn't exist without homestuck, so I thought it'd be a good idea to read it so I could understand utdr better ad I fell in love. I'd love to hear when other people read it and what first prompted them whether it was a friend or something else. •<|:o).

I managed to read and catch up to Homestuck an update or two before it ended. Prior to that, I consumed it exclusively through various comic dubs posted onto YouTube (primarily OctoPimp's stuff.) I had tried to read it around the time of [S] Game Over and got as far as [S] YOU THERE. BOY., but my older brother discouraged me because he didn't think I was mature enough to read it yet.

(Or at least, I'm pretty sure it was around the time of [S] GAME OVER :^P It was probably closer to 2014 or 2015.)

I started on my Birthday back in 2009. A girl I was dating at the time introduced me to it, and I loved the aesthetic and joined the MSPA Forums a few months later after she dumped me for Jared. Fuck Jared.

The Real Homestuck?

That's the friends we made along the way!

I started in summer of 2011 after seeing a bunch of fanart around tumblr. I saw one of the flashes sometime before then via a link on a forum, but didn't get around to a read-through until later, probably because I was busy with school stuff.

i "read" it in 2016 when i was like 11. scarequotes 'cause as i've been rereading recently i realised most of what elementary school madeline was doing was ogling at the flashes and just skipping any dialogue that got too long.. in my defense, though, i was really into undertale at the time

A bunch of my friends were reading it while it was still going, but at the time I didn't have the capacity to read it (I was experiencing anhedonia back then), but I did catch that the music was great and I'm all for good music.
So, years later, with my depression more in check and with the big incentive that I wanted to listen to the music knowing it's context (is important to me when it's an OST), I started reading. I think my first read was in... 2019? And it was a hell of a discovery. As many other things I get into, I started because of the music, stayed for everything else.

When I finished, I convinced a group of friend to read it with me. We read the Spanish translation because some of my friends were not very fluent in English. I read the narration since I'm a fast reader and the characters were split among us and we had a blast reading it this way. We did some amateurish voice acting, it was very fun. I know there are a lot of let's read like that, but when I proposed to do so we weren't aware of it, so I guess is just feels like a good idea to read Homestuck this way. And it is. I actually repeated the experience with other friends and it was awesome the second time too. Everyone loved it.

We also played Hiveswap Act 1 like that and read the Paradox Space comics. Everything that has been translated to Spanish so far.

For the rest, I'm up to date with Beyond Canon and all Hiveswap, but I'm "alone" in my group of friends in that so I don't have anyone to talk to about it.

Homestuck has become ever since one of my biggest hyperfixations. I already cosplayed Terezi twice for Halloween and went as Knight of Breath (my classpect) to a convention. I might arrived late but I'm here to stay, and I hope I can get more friends to get up to date even if they have to read in English.

i started reading homestuck in about mid june of 2023 and finished it on the 6th of July 2023. I think I remember vaguely coming across it earlier- the first time i actually remember hearing the name and seeing what it looked like was probably late 2019 or EARLY (pre-lockdown) 2020. i sometimes wish i read it earlier.

I originally stumbled across homestuck back either before or during 2016, but when kid me saw the site, I instantly got overwhelmed with the amount of things on screen and promptly closed the tab and never came back. Then, somewhere in 2018, an old friend reintroduced the comic to me and I gave it a try... Before forgetting about it until 2019. Then, I finished reading it around February 2019!

I stumbled onto Homestuck in 2012-2013. And as funny as it may seem, a person like me back then should have not indulged with Homestuck.
But, for some reason, I loved it. It was stupid, it was absurd and it completely changed my chemistry.
Although, I had constantly skimmed through it so I would actually understand and comprehend what was happening and what was written on it.

I cannot thank it enough for what it did to my life.

I started reading it when I was 13 during 2020. I liked that I could relate to the characters at the time. Once the alpha timeline was introduced, I got upset that I had to wait to see my goats (beta characters) and stopped reading until I was 15. I continued reading and finished it during school hours, haha. I really liked how realistic it was to the experience of being 13-16 and growing up lonely/going through it. I'm glad I had it during those years, it was comforting.
