The epilogues are just boring

Okay so ive been trying to read the epilogues recently, but i can barely get through a page because they are so boring. like they just drag on for so long, and they feel specifically made to piss people off sometimes, like just completely redoing characters because its fun. and its such whiplash because i think the original homestuck was very engaging, it had good art, animations, music, and the dialogue was actually funny. im not saying everything is bad about the epilogues, but the bad parts are just so prevelant they bring the whole thing down.

I think the main issue is the characters, and i think they can be ranked into 3 groups: on par with the original, ok but not as good, and just insufferable.

(for context ive gotten as far as meat 29, havent done candy yet)

the ones that are on par are dave, karkat, kanaya, john, and terezi because i actually enjoy reading scenes with them and their dialogue is actually well written.

the ones that are ok are calliope/alt calliope, roxy, jake, and rose, mostly because they haven't really had big roles yet

then the ones that are insufferable ill go 1 by 1, because god do i hate them.

first, jane will not shut the hell up about how she thinks shes a xenophobe and being attracted to jake, which is a real shame because she was by far the least developed main character in the main comic, because she was mind controlled for the last half of her existence. i really wish they kept her as the girl who likes baking and detectives and not the "i hate trolls but love jake" machine

second, jade is just an asshole to dave and karkat, which is pretty annoying considering they're actually well written.

finally, dirk is so annoying, he keeps his superiority complex and delusion of depth that he had in the original, but without the goofy jake to balance him out. the narration part was just insufferable.

i couldnt think of a good signature
