so this is smth i commented on in the Runescape thread. about avatar genders but the thread is abt Runescape, so Im going to make a new thread abt this cus the thread is ultimately abt a game i never played ripppp.
I first noticed this in splatoon 3. obvs its a kids game so the devs will not let any player character to be truly topless, but with low-cut shirts or on the gear you get with the Little Buddy Amiibo, you can clearly see that one of character "styles" has a bra while the other style doesnt at all.
I also noticed that in the hunger games simulator, i HAD to pick btwn male or female, when arguably gender isnt even relevant to this text simulator. in the books, gender was relevant cus the Games would cull one boy and one girl from each district, but in the simulator, it allows you to have two players of the same gender come from the same district. so why have gender at all?
The new Tomodachi Life is more of an improvement, they even allow contradictory pronouns. though i wish i could have the ability to have No Pronouns, or add custom ones. and be able to select more than one gender or add a custom one. let me give my characters xenogenders lol.

But Ive seen a lot of discussion about how binary avatar genders are on tumblr, so i know its a wider phenomenon than these three games i played lol.
Like, i think if ur going to say "oh these characters dont have gender, these are body "styles!" then i expect more diversity in the "styles." Such as different weights. and mixed sex characteristics. and give the avatars with boobs the option be topless omg. I know people find boobs arousing, but people also find armpits or hands or feet attractive too and i dont see games censoring feet when someone takes their avatar shoes off. You cant say you're being inclusive when you only have two options that are so obvious binary "male" and "female" in the game devs eyes.
Anyways comment y'all's perspective. Yall can probably give more intelligent viewpoints than me lol rip
