i've been thinking a lot about the hypothetical homestuck animated series recently, the nature of it is an adaptation, and how it should handle the original work. and this has really got me wondering, would the animated series be better off if it was less faithful to the comic?

of course, right now we've seen very little of homestuck the animated series, but from what we have seen (i.e. the pilot) and what we've been told, they seem to be genuinely sticking to the story of the original comic. the most concrete statement we've got on this so far (from what i can remember) is a discord post from vibri a few months or so before the pilot came out answering the question of how faithful the series was gonna be, wherein they said it was going to be "extremely faithful" up until act 6 where they would shift things around a bit, because act 6 is "messy" and "hard to adapt". and here's my problem. i think i would actually prefer it if the animated series is less faithful. in my opinion, a new and fresh take on homestuck which deviates from the main story significantly would honestly be much more interesting and provoke more interesting discussion, as opposed to just a faithful adaptation of the og comic.

anyway, im very curious to see what other opinions people have on this, which i why ive decided to post about it to here. so what do you think? should the homestuck animated series be more or less faithful? let me know in the replies
