I think a big thing with the idea I've seen some put forward of "long hair is normal for satyrs", that like Dirk defensively posits, it is masculine despite Rose's observation to the contrary, is like... Is it? How many satyrs can you name that weren't a satyrized anime girl that had long hair?
Bc so far I can think of Bo'bo and uh... one statue at honeyfall and the satyr on the cover of "our checkered past."
Every other Satyr we see that can't be explained away as a transmisogynized internal second gendering (the anime girls) has short hair.
For all the anime girl satyrs we see there sure aren't a lot of actual satyrs in the comic that look like that beyond Bo'bo, and I gotta be honest Given the lack of prevalence they have in the fiction's "real life" I think the anime girl satyrs are an even more direct analogue for "femboys" (transfeminine character that people will swear up and down is just a feminine man and nothing trans is going on there despite the lack of many of these existing irl).
Do the satyrs *really* consider their anime girl satyrs to be masculine? Or is it simply that they deny them any other official gender at all?
