Concept art for a project @lyrichartwell and I are working on. The Denizens play quite a large role in it, so we decided they needed some redesigns.
In mythology, Echidna was the consort of Typhon (i.e. Typheus), and was given the title of mother of monsters, alongside Gaia. While no Ancient iconography of her has survived, I tried taking inspiration from common Hellenic motherly motifs, like a "wide-bosom" (though the academic term is actually "huge bazonkas"), as well as the Renaissance sculpture by Ligorio, itself an inspiration for Echidna's Homestuck icon. Aside from that, Steven Universe's White Diamond was also an inspiration, specifically with how I decided to place the quills on her head.
