Has anyone ever played any of the Mother series of games? These are known as Earthbound in the West. They were inspirational to the creator of Undertale and Deltarune, Toby Fox. If you haven't checked them out, you may find them to be strange, funny, and heartrending, so I definitely recommend them.

Mother 3 is probably my third favourite game of all time. The graphics are some of my favourite pixel art ever, the music is fantastic, the story and characters are top-notch, and it's funny to boot. But it's also sad... I relate to Duster and his physical disability so much and I love that he's in such an amazing game. I'm so glad that Clyde Mandolin allowed for English natives to play the game...

Hi! Yes, I've played EarthBound and Mother 3. The Mother series and Homestuck are very intertwined to me. I love the music of Mother- I actually sang "Pollyanna" as a solo for a choir rehersal way back when lol.

I've beaten Earthbound on a whim because me friend pressured me into finishing it, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I played Mother 3 shortly after and I don't think I've ever cried to an ending of a video game quite like I did playing Mother 3.
so yeah it's pretty good 10/10 would recommend

i played earthbound for the first time last year and it was pretty eye opening. really wacky game. left my save on the final corridor to giygas tho i forgot to actually beat the game
also have yall seen that one mother 1 remake earthbound hack? its coming out next year. ive been looking forward to it, it looks really neat

earthbound was one of the first games i ever played, love it to death. mother 3 is peak incarnate, bonefide kino.
Earthbound is far and away the funniest game i've ever played, it's like if you took the humor of Undertale and cranked it up x1000. no other game has ever consistently gotten me to laugh so hard

I have Not managed to play through EarthBound yet, I'm pretty strapped for time. I've gotten a bit through it though, and it is very charming! Toby has forever ruined RPG battles for me, however, so I feel sad that I cannot not bash the stray doggo. :((

the mother series is hands down the best video game series ever made. the only goal i have in life is capturing the same feelings in my own work. i watch every nintendo direct with a foolish hope theyll announce MOTHER TRILOGY REMAKE REMASTERED HD next and i leave every nintendo direct disappointed. maybe someday...

the MOTHER series is one of my favorite game series of all time i love m3 for its writing and i love m2 for its writing + i 2nd jupiter ^ in that even though it's never coming i hope we get a remake or at least a rerelease of the series eventually. i want to see teddy in 1080p

i've never actually finished a mother game, but i really like the soundtracks. my annoying contrarian take is that i appreciate the earthbound soundtrack more than mother 3's, just 'cause the weirdo sampling stuff is so cool. i've found it very inspiring... The writing in Mother 3 is incredible. I think about the ending all the time, it really, really sticks with you.
Honestly, I think they COULD do a remake? Maybe Itoi wouldn't be interested in it, but, there have been so many excellent remakes recently, both really bold reenvisionings like FF7R and Super Mario RPG remake, and HD-2D stuff like they did for Live-a-Live and Dragon Quest... Nintendo could absolutely print money on a Mother trilogy update.
I beat earthbound when I was like 13, it definitely left an impact on me. I just wish that it wasn't such a hassle to revive your whole party if they get wiped out. . . That's really the only reason that I haven't finished a second playthrough to this day

I finally played Earthbound and Mother 3 for the first time these last couple months. Only took 12 years of being a Homestuck fan to finally play it lmao. Honestly both life-changing games. Somehow I found myself preferring Earthbound over Mother 3 despite everything I had heard my whole life...
It's fine if playing them took you awhile, as long as you got it done.
Honestly, it was very disillusioning to learn that Hussie hadn't actually finished Earthbound before starting HS.
