I've seen a lot of Jake talk here over the past week (probably on account of the Jake-heavy Update lol), so I figured I would share my two cents on the topic. As an aroace person myself, I might be biased toward this interpretation, but I do genuinely think he is. And of course, any other interpretation is equally valid, don't take my word as gospel.
The biggest, most obvious evidence toward it, aside from his color scheme being literally the exact same as the aromantic flag, is how, well, his entire character arc outside of post-canon revolves around him not really getting how romance works, most obvious here. A direct quote from that page:
GT: Its fair to say i never came close to feeling as strongly about him as you.
GT: I envy you actually. Ive actually worried at times that i just wasnt capable of feeling that way about anyone.
If that's not arocoded, I don't know what is. "But wait!" you may argue, "Hasn't Jake been in multiple relationships before?" And that's a fair point. However, let's take a closer look. There are 2 characters Jake has been in a relationship with, plus 2 he has shown desire to be in one with. Dirk, Jane, Aranea, and most recently, Karkat.
Jane is the most clear cut here. JakeJane was only a thing because Jane manipulated him into it, plain as that.
DirkJake's brief stint as canon oozed with "We're great friends, so we'd probably be good boyfriends too!" from Jake's end, tying into the aforementioned character arc, and his declaration of love in the Epilogues is obviously just UltDirk's meddling.
Jake's current targeting of Karkat seems to be mostly just out of spite towards Dave, considering how it takes a HEAVY backseat to Jake airing out grievances with Dave in the newest update.
Jake's infatuation toward Aranea seems to be more like sexual attraction than romantic, or maybe even just Jake's kink-esque blue-woman infatuation.
Oh, and one other point I want to mention in this post: aside from Obama, who seems unreliable at best, considering how Dirk is almost definitely involved there, there's a total of 3 canon Hope players: Jake, Eridan, and Cronus. Destroyer classes tend to be opposite of their aspect personality-wise, and the latter two are both destroyers and very attraction-motivated characters. So maybe non-destroyer Hope players are just generally less attraction-focused, like a spin on the classic "chaste hero" archetype.
What do you think?
