Incompetent First Guardians

I really like that all the first guardians are incompetent at their job/actively detrimental to their planet. For me it brings to mind like oppressive and fucked up societal institutions and just parental figures in general that force extremely horrid stuff on you but tell you that it's for your own good. And this is also the case in Homestuck because the first guardians are not really guardians, all they care about is making sure that Sburb is played. Which adds to this whole theme that the kids need to escape the oppression of society/the narrative because ultimately it just does more harm than good.
