good evening, everybody!! and welcome to my nice new thread!! this one is about Block Tales! :)

if you are unaware of what it is, in summary, it is an RPG made on universally hated children’s platform Roblox, being kind of a commentary on how the modern-day site kind of sucks and also including a lot of stuff from the "retro" days. in a short summary, you (a user from the current year of 2026) are sent back in time to 2010 Roblox after an encounter with a dastardly cloaked figure at a Roblox Convention! your goal is to gather the 7 Sword Fight on The Heights Swords and save this time period’s version of Builderman so that you can be sent back in time.

this CAN be used as a general discussion of the game if you’re all interested, but for this I want to discuss something that I find particularly strange about the entire game‘s rewrite which came along with its recent 5th chapter. The near-absence of a certain character.

So, starting in demo 2, there was this NPC who commonly appeared, and seemed to hold a bit of plot importance (and appearing in every chapter since!). Her name is Kyoko! She’s an adventurer/traveller lady. I think she’s pretty cool! :] but, it seems that in the rewrite, she has been eviscerated from the face of the earth. Mostly.

I will give a rundown, from my memory, of EVERY SINGLE KYOKO ENCOUNTER.

You first meet her at the start of Chapter 2, at the airport of the first area. The first new room in the chapter, basically. She states that the wilderness is calling to her, and offers to have you adventure with her. You have swords to collect, and no matter if you accept or deny her request, she tells you about Turitopulis, another location in the chapter, and tells you how to get there! When you GET to Turitopulis, you see her again, and you have a quick conversation before the town’s mayor (and the main antagonist of the chapter’s father) screams for help due to his son basically kidnapping him. You can go back to the airport after this and see her again, and she says that she’s probably gonna bounce back to Bizville, the main "hub" of the game, basically.

Chapter 3 is all about ghosts and scary shit. After wandering about a cemetery, you enter TELAMON’S Manor. (why the fuck does my phone autocorrect his name.) There’s where you see Kyoko again! She notices that you seem a bit down and, after explaining what happened after you last saw her in Chapter 2, she talks to you about how emotions can weigh you down, and some things about her Sister I think?? I’m unsure. afterwards, she gives you a cookie!

So, fun fact, Chapter 3 kind of pulls a fast one on you after the "final" boss, dragging you into a weird limbo state. The most important thing is that all of the HARD bosses you have to fight ARE YOUR EMOTIONS. Hatred being the FINAL boss of the chapter, which I believe is something Kyoko mentions in that conversation.

In Chapter 4, you see her by the docks! The main thing of importance here is when you tell her that you’re going to the DESERT to retrieve the firebrand. She seems PRETTY scared by that, and hopes for your safety, mentioning how her Sister got lost in the desert and never came back.

Fun fact! A main character in Chapter 4 is a pirate lass named Calypso! She’s a party member for a bit, and is there with you until the final boss of the chapter. She is Kyoko’s Sister. This is the second time she’s foreshadowed shit. What the fuck.

Anyway, now we look at the rewrite! Let’s see here…

The first conversation with her at the airport is removed, and so you meet her in Turitopulis instead! That’s where she explains her whole deal to you.

Now, I’m not sure if you HAVE to visit her back at the airport for her to, I dunno, SHOW UP anywhere else, but ALL FUTURE CONVERSATIONS WITH THIS CHARACTER ARE REMOVED. GONE. EVISCERATED.

What do you get instead? She’s mentioned like, twice offhand by Calypso when she sees that shit happened to her pirate crew (basically her family). You can tell because the text is in pink! Her face doesn’t appear next to the text though (like anything else in the game now, even if it’s characters you haven’t seen yet), so that’s kind of weird.

I haven’t played Chapter 5 yet, just played through the rest of the chapters first to jog my memory and to see what changed, but this just felt kind of weird to me. I dunno.

I feel like this was overreacting, LOL, sorry!! :)
