There are many main conflicts going on in Beyond Canon, but two are of the meta way:
A) If the story ends, all the meta-aware characters "die" B) A story cannot go on forever without the degradation of its quality, which would be similarly awful to its meta-aware characters
This is part of the meat/candy dichotomy - Dirk wants it to keep going, even at risk of becoming stale and repetitive, while Allie wants it to be over and done. How *does* BC make an ending? How do you write yourself out of that without justifying Dirk's methods?
I have an idea.
The characters, likely Terezi, via the fanontiniuum would learn about the wider fandom and about kinning and more specifically, about plurality. And that is the breakthrough: The characters can live on without any media at all.
At the end of Homestuck: Beyond Canon, Terezi (and possibly other characters too) will go through a door labeled "To: Reader's Mind" and become yours - yes YOURS - headmate.
This way the character is no longer on the text as it ends, and its up to the readers and plural communities to continue Terezi's story, either as your own headmate or in fanfictions and fanstories.
What do you all think?
