the quirks are such an iconic part of homestuck that it'd be really disappointing if they don't find a way to include them somehow. how do you think they'll incorporate them if at all?
My guess is that they would just show some text onscreen occasionally that matches up with what the trolls are saying. Just showing the actual pesterlog briefly while still doing the gag where we can see them talking out of the phone like in the trailer. Probably the best way to get it in there while still being entirely voice acted and more accessible to people with reading disabilities.
I personally think it's quite reasonable to not directly reference the typing quirks in spoken conversation. Like yes, they're iconic, but they're also something that only works when you read text. It's pretty incompatible with spoken dialogue like an animatic series needs.
If I HAD to choose something though (assuming the show even makes it past the pilot in the first place), I'd suggest having the trolls using voice changers to subtly disguise their voices. Still gets across the whole "mysterious hacker stranger" aspect. Of course it'd probably have to be subtle so as to make the dialogue still intelligible, so YMMV on whether that would be worth it.
I'd assume text pop ups, with verbal quirking for some (Vriska drawing out vowels, Nepeta/Feferi using puns, Eridan saying wuh-what, Sollux lisping, Karkat shouting, etc) and others probably having some kind of visible pop ups. Just like the fan comic dubs do the verbal quirking, yk what I mean?
Whenever Vriska says a word with an "ate" sound or a letter B, overlay this voice clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87H6m2v4zNs

probably the same as any fandub might with things like making eridan's w's longer and such. I also like the idea of voice changers.

I hate to be rude but I think they will incorporate them by having the characters talk out loud and be voiced by actors who are doing voices.
@reimaruwa if you hate to be rude why did you be? completely unnessecary
There is a lot to be said about how typing quirks themselves are a way of conveying the concept of "voice" within the text medium, but I just didn't feel like taking time formulating sentences to explain that
Yeah I’m in agreement with the others who’ve said basically the same thing. Think they’ll just handle it like how fandubs handle it.
i think its probably likely they might have a stutter on some, but vriska? no clue. we've been shown they think about pesterchum through a tiktok. i feel like likely ther might be smaller parts where its shown.
HELLO. I AM A KARKAT LABUBU YOU SICK FUCKING SHIT SPONGE. YOU FUCKING STINK LIKE A PROSTITUTE DRINKING HORSE PISS.
Yeah it's probably just gonna be iconic voice direction and voices distinct for each character.
maybe with different accentz and pronunciation (zuch az zollux having a lizp 4 example, which iz already canon anyway)
hehehe :x
they'll probably do it the same way as the fandubs that people do
I'm with @slothArmy on this one - they'll just give us brief glimpses of the pesterlogs. Probably early on in the show, with the kids trying to figure out what on Earth these trolls are going on about.
"This is StuckUnderHell, nor am I out of it." - Mephistopheles
I think they will make the trolls have very distinctive and funny accents XD
Why hate when we can love and play video games with each other?<3<3<3<3
i think the pesterlog is gonna appear on screen and the characters will talk over their text. thats my guess
In the interview today the director said she wants to maintain markers of online dialogue -- having characters actually say LMAO, for example. So I think she and the team will give serious thought to how one might represent the quirks in the new medium. This will necessarily be gimmicky since quirks are gimmicky. I think it'd be a fun touch if a second copy of Sollux's voice joined in everytime he pronounced a two/too/to sound -- not too pronounced, just barely loud enough to be unnerving, hinting at some haunted psychic nonsense.
The success of a paradigm may not be for the reasons it claims (i.e. accurate description of the world). This is good.
