if youre interested in stepping away from DND you should definitely try Tablestuck, it has a very detailed guide to help with making a campaign based on sburb. im totally not biased or anything.
but even if you dont want to learn another ttrpg it would be good to look through it for ideas.
reach out on discord @cytosol for moderation-related help!
Hey! If you're interested in running a TTRPG themed around Homestuck, you can find information and a link to my game Tablestuck on the front page of this website! Even if you want to stick to DnD, it might serve as a good source of inspiration to how you might approach homebrewing it. Outside of Tablestuck, there are also a few other cool Homestuck TTRPGs I've seen in the community, like RPGstuck which is made by some very cool people.
As advised by others, you're probably best off switching to Tablestuck or RPGStuck
But, if you don't wanna do that... You could probably make a plot out of Alternia/The Alternian Empire. Maybe they're an invasion squad to a new planet or something that's stuck at medieval level tech and also has... "White science" or whatever. Just some ideas :P
Hey guy. It's me. that fucking bird that i hate.
you could go the TTRPG within a TTRPG route by having the characters FLARP, also I agree with the people above me on using Tablestuck, it'll give you more accurate class abilities and fetch modii
Good D4y
Agreeing with everyone here who said "play tablestuck", if you want to play sburb Id highly recc that you play a ttrpg with sburb mechanics in them. Learn from my mistakes, its much more simpler to use a system that supports the kind of game you want to play over trying to hack and chop up a system and bending it into doing what you want.
For the second problem of "not wanting to separate the players", I would second what HC said, with trolls flarping and hanging out together. If I were you, I'd figure out what *kind* of homestuck story you want to tell. Do you want to do sburb? Do you want to play with trolls? If so, are they going to be kids or adults? I say figure out what kind of "homestuck game" you want to play and work from there.
