i just legit don't understand "papyrus is the knight" believers. i just can't.

I hate practically all classpecting (other than like self-inserts/sonas/etc) that isn't from a narrative role perspective. It's just taking the meta basis out of it.

But still valid. As for Deltarune I am not a big fan of "Carol is the Knight". I think its just pointing to it being Dess, however I do think Dess and the Knight are working together in a way which explains why Carol is so sus.

@elegantSpintress This forum I made is for "any media" dw. Yeah I mentioned Deltarune, but that was just an example I used. I allow other fandoms theories because I am curious :]c

ohh okay lol i just couldn't read what thread this was in T_T but yeah I just don't think carol is the knight. I don't have any homestuck theories I really disagree with all that much.

Let's just list a few things.

AWFUL, AWFUL THEORIES, I WANT TO BLEACH MY BRAIN

- Kaworu in Neon Genesis Evangelion does not really love Shinji, people are just "misinterpreting" that he's expressing the love God feels for all creation

- The Engineers in Alien/Prometheus are not the Space Jockey species, they just got inspiration from their technology and morphology

- Ancient vampires in Legacy of Kain have 3 fingers on each hand and 2 toes on each feet because (3x2) + (2x2) = 10, 10 being the number of the Pillars + the Reaver

@sword Sorry for any confusion! This is supposed to be a general discussion for media. So that means you're not wrong for bringing up classpects! Heck, I mentioned it in the post first lol! So you can continue if you wish! Since it falls under my subject "Have you ever seen a theory that you felt is just wrong."

And if you have any other theories from different fandoms youre in that you dont agree with, you are free to mention them too! Like I said before, I am curious about things, even if I dont understand fully what people talk about lol. I also wanna see how many people feel this same gut reaction as I do.

Would also like to add something that will seem contrary to the spirit of the thread, but I don't think it is.

Outside of a few MINDBLOWING bad reads I generally don't react to, I think absolutely bad analysis is almost not a thing.

By that, I mean that even the most "absurd" hypotheses can be interesting. They can be creative. Sometimes they evolve into works of their own.

Also the most off-topic angles can provide the most fascinating results. Because when you're approaching a work transversally, for example analyzing the TV mise-en-scène of a soccer game through the prism of class struggle and syndicalism, Titanic through the repeated visual patterns observed in philately, or Jurassic Park through the prism of Muslim mythology, you're creating a GIGANTIC CROSS-SECTION OF THE WORK. And with this cross-section, you will unexpectingly discover a lot of elements, you will unearth symbols and dynamics no one has paid attention to before.

So generally speaking, I don't tend to speak badly of batshit, or simply seemingly unfitting, theories. Because I like the kind of perspectives they bring.

a little silly to bring up a sort of unrelated fandom but i'll never get why so many ppl believe the chasities from the hatchetfield musicals have nibbly as their patron lord. like. at least to me, nibbly seems to be more about competition and the endless desire to (in the words of hit musician jamie paige) "watch the line go up line go up up up up up up". the whole thing with the chasities is like. the fear of god. especially with grace. like. they do all of that with the notion that god is constantly watching them and judging their every move. i sure wonder if there's a lord in black whose whole thing is the panopicton and watching! (it's blinky. i'm saying that the chasities are more like blinky narratively.)

while not a theory per say, i really hate that reading of max jagerman (also from the hatchetfield musicals) where he's just a cute little himbo cinnamon roll uwu let's ship him with richie uwu as if nerdy prudes must die isn't like "max is a horrible person and the school system doesn't care". like. there's an entire song about how people are scared of him. he starts killing all of those people, not because of the whole dismemberment thing, but because HE IS NOT THE TOP DOG ANYMORE. because THE NERDS ARENT CONSTANTLY HIDING IN FEAR OF HIM ANYMORE. yes, there obvious nuance there but like. the other characters would NOT forgive him that easily. (and not to bitch about michie but i genuinely don't get it like they interact Twice. one richie is visibly scared of max and the other is when RICHIE GETS MURDERED. i don't see the love there)

Seconding whoever said papyrus was the knight being silly. I dont get it, esp with how deltarune seems 1000 times more interested and concerned with the new characters than the characters from undertale, and like. Papyrus was a big character in undertale, toby wouldnt make him a major character in deltarune.

Gerson doesnt count because he was a shopkeep in undertale and iirc was there to help susie along in her character arc.

I dont even think this counts but I really didnt like and didnt get the "tobi is obito" theory I thought it was just like "oooh they have similar names and you dont see his face so its gotta be oooh" and I actually had stopped actively reading when that was confirmed in canon and I learned this via my manager when I worked at gamestop and I was so shocked I like unintentionally yelled but like we were in the backroom (did like stock n stuff) so it was fine but Still. what the hell man. why I mean Naruto at that point was just full of nonsense and asspulls but cooome ooooon
