Hi, im currently reading hs for the first time and im interest in talking with other first time readers or older fans re-reading, or anyone down to read my ramblings on it.
Im at the beggining of Act 5 Act 2 and i've been posting my thoughts and reactions on tumblr (cann3dTun4) Im fairly ok with spoilers bc HS has been looming over my internet presence for years I just hadn't read it lol.
My favorite characters atm are Jade, Dave, Aradia, Sollux, Rose and Gamzee. Feel free to ask me questions or even answer my questions, bc boy a have plenty. Sburb might be the minecraft of hell and i wanna know how it works.
First off, welcome to the party! It’s always good to see new people reading Homestuck. Second, you have good taste in characters. Sollux is incredibly awesome, as are Dave and Gamzee. (and you haven’t even seen Gamzee at his best yet) I just started Act 5 Act 1, though it is my fourth time reading the comic. I hope you enjoy A5A2, as it is where the comic really starts to go crazy both in the plot and in the way the story is told. Also. I would be happy to answer any questions you have.
This is some straight up delirious biznasty, Dawg!!
dave is great taste but ill question you on sollux and the clown
no hate though
so what do you think of john perchance
I like John! he's the protagonist so i was a bit afraid that he might be the nothing-burger character while the other kids and trolls got all the fun and deep stuff but John's innocence (if that can even be the word to describe his whimsy) might be the perfect glue to hold all of it together. I'll say he's the most childish out of the kids, so that really grounds the whole story a bit, its quite charming.
He also seems to be the one with the most stable home and parent relationship even if he finds Dadbert a bit smothering, so im interested in seeing how that reflects on him later on.
John’s arc, which doesn’t truly start in earnest until sometime into A5A2, is one of the best and reveals a lot about his character, while not changing his personality or outlook on life overmuch. He is certainly a well done “designated protagonist” who is interesting and distinct while remaining widely relatable and “basic”.
