so, spoilers obviously. talking about character death.
bit of a theory i cooked up a while ago towards the end of homestuck, figured itd be worth posting, but i noticed a tendency of characters to die in fairly specific ways and that it might be something narratively dictated by their classpect. regardless of how much veracity this holds theres a way to divvy up most if not all deaths in the comic into 2 sort of base functions, possibly one per class and aspect, with each of these parts varying in specificity or metaphorical significance.
take john for instance, he almost always dies as a result of being stabbed in the chest by an enemy while caught unaware (on his quest bed, fighting jack in the dream bubble, whatever the fuck is going on with him in the meat timeline now, etc...) obviously theres some questions to sort out, seeing as how this doesnt affect EVERY death (the multiple doomed johns killed by typheus), or how i mentioned it being split into 2 parts and then brought up what could easily be described as 3 separate concepts (stabbed in the chest, by an enemy, while unaware, if you happened to need a recap from earlier in the paragraph), and its not exactly clear which parts would apply to heir or breath, but this noticeable tendency for coincidentally similar deaths isnt just limited to john.
space players, as far as i could put together with maybe 10 or 15 minutes of semi hard thinking, seem to be killed as collateral damage (jades dreamself dying when jack severed prospits moon, the shaving cream bomb, when her house fell on her, as well as kanaya being killed by eridan just for being nearby when he went on his rampage)
(and as a brief aside its no surprise that time players are frequently killed as a result of their own time travel, whether purposeful or unintentional)
of course it could all be coincidence of a different type, that being how classpects are reflections of characters and certain personality traits, which in turn lead to repeat death causes based on how those traits influence a characters actions and general demeanor when facing danger, but with how much detail was put into various different systems of the comic i certainly wouldnt be surprised if it was true.
i could probably go on for longer about various death similarities across other characters and separate things by class and aspects by comparing them all, but its also 4 in the morning so im probably going to leave it here for now and let yall take the wheel. so anyway, thoughts on classpect determining how someone dies?

I wonder if theres like a lidt of character deaths or somethin cuz that would be great 2 reference right about now. Heart players ummmm? Do it to themselves? Nepeta could have stayed in the vents, dirk could have not killed himself a bucnh. Wasnt tavros also stabbed through the chest? Breath then probably. Rose gets like pronged thrice (twice confirmed once like probably) (one of these was through the chest i think), exploded once, and like however she died when she was grimdark. Vriska got stabbed through the chest once. ??? I think hussie just really likes that trope. Roxy willingly died to godtier, equius willingly died cuz hes freaky. I cant think if any similarities between roxys other deaths. Jane and feferi both died to jack. Thats all the parallels i can find rn lol
I dont know how to embed images. So. Until then. Imagine pantskat or something.
I always like to remember that they were playing a highly advanced alien video game, so it's fun to think or headcanon that there were pre-programmed things set into the game to sort of kick off certain routes/endings. Like, when you play a game and you kill off an NPC that's important, you will inevitably be put onto a different route than the one you were on before.
I think the multiple deaths may be staged in this repetitive way not only because our characters are stuck in an actual cycle of violence, but also because the game can't think of any other way to have them die legitimately due to the role they were assigned when they first started.
Their session of Sburb was also weird and abnormal. Perhaps the Scratch and resetting everything also fucked with how they died multiple times as well, which would cause problems down the line. If Sburb is a game that takes time travel into account due to their being Time players, then I'd say the moment they started the game probably "glitched" because it already knew they'd have to die a lot to reach their end goal.
sburb game mechanics are definitely something that could be related, but idk myself. narrative influence like that always seemed kind of outside the scope of just the rules applied to them, and its really only something i think wed see at the hands of an ultimate self. plus while there is always a lot of simplification of putting the setting within the game itself, its more accurate to say that sburb as a game only really serves as an entryway to a preexisting pocket of paradox space, and the existence of what we identify as game mechanics (health bars, level up systems, sylladexes, etc...) is already just a facet of characters existence and how they interact with things both in and out of session. skaia as a sort of entity i can definitely see being responsible for this destined stylistic nature of death, but thats also difficult to ascribe blame too as skaia isnt really an entity capable of acting in any way, similar to predestination or determinism
