alterhumanity thread!

hi! i got involved in the fictionkin community spring of 24, and am trollkind, i guess. im more fictionkin than alterhuman, but theres overlap!

im a teal!daraya jonjet and a vriska, and probably some nitram. humanwise, im a roseways!jake and a dirkways something.

and i was introduced to the community through chancing upon the wonderful people at hskinhome on tumblr!

i was introduced to the idea of fiction/otherkin in 2017 by a guy i met on msparp, and its been... a pretty big part of my identity ever since! jade has remained a pretty Important character in that for a while, and its only very very recently that another character hit the same way (akizet from corru.observer, as may be obvious from my. icon and username.)

specifically!!! ive always had the sense that i wasnt human since i discovered the concept, but didnt really have an alternative that felt right. and then i found corru.observer, and it fell into place quite perfectly. i am akizet, i am an obesk (alien species from the game!), and it has brought me such joy to have that knowledge!

there are also a handful of other characters i consider to be me, but the feeling is not nearly as intense as it is with those two

I always sort of knew I was alterhuman- I can't recall when I found out about it, but it must've been somewhere on Tumblr...

Looking back at it, it seems to have been around 2020 or a little earlier, when I was in the Smile For Me fandom! I had a Boris Habit kintype I realized one day very suddenly after getting some crazy memories that wouldn't traditionally happen in anything post-canon. A lot of source memories happen pretty spontaneously- I've given up on trying to figure things out.

It's both a spiritual affair for me, and a label I use for fun!

My strongest kintypes are Cuttlefish, Ant, Plant, Red Fox, Cat, and Stalker (from Subnautica!)

I'm not fictionkin, but I figured out that I'm not human through Lil Hal. I'm still figuring things out, but I'm probably a robot. Or it's just because I'm autistic. Again, I still don't know a lot, so don't quote me on that. I also found out about otherkin from corru.observer. I am in fact pretty sure I'm mechanical in some way though.

I had a very funny roundabout way of figuring things out. I used to go around and around in dragon-related webrings and absorb all the knowledge at one point I actually joined a draconity email newsletter without fully comprehending what it was beyond "yay dragons" any self progress made there was swiftly and soundly reversed after rubbing elbows with "otakin" which was a largely facebook-based community of specifically anime based fictionkin... and was kiiinda maybe a doomsday cult it was unclear how serious people were with that but it scared me away for a bit. But then I got better. I started like actually engaging with the EARLY kin community on tumblr (2014) and started actually calling myself otherkin around that time. Based on how Weird people would be I would sometimes just avoid directly saying "otherkin" and going with "draconity" in order to avoid various hatemail spam waves. the essay "Gender Furry II: Now With More Scales" that was hosted on the late [adjective][species] site was revolutionary in how I think and move through the world. I don't know where or how to access it these days but I'm sure someone archived it somewhere... Also at one point I became mutuals with THE Orion Scribner (of "Theri There" and "Otherkin Timeline" fame)on the fediverse which i think. is pretty cooool.

But uh yah. I'm Autumn I'm just a dragon in both gender and species. not ACTUALLY a wyvern thats just my fursona and I'm not gonna change that because I think its really funny to have to clarify. I do get the phantom limbs sensations you sometimes hear us more creature-y folk talk about, and this has been a thing for about as long as I can remember... Most common feelings are tail and wings, occasionally floppity ears as well, I used to have a very kinda fang-y-maw-y feeling but I haven't in forever... uuh ya. rawr. ^.=.^

Hello!! I first discovered the concept from a youtube short. IIRC, it was by nxmi? I don't remember if it's still up, but they jumped towards the camera. I was OBSESSED and binged a ton of their quads content. Ensue a summer of me trying to figure out my theriotype, practicing quadrobics, aaaaand. Hmm. I don't remember much else lol. It was fun, though.

Eventually, I decided that wolf fits me best. I've never really gotten it down to the exact subspecies- Gray wolves are closest to me, but I won't lie and say himalayan wolves don't make me go man!! Why isn't that me?!

I gave up on quads pretty much after the summer, since I didn't have much time to practice or enjoy them that much. I spent a lot of time last year ironing out things- figuring out a version of my sona that was me with wolf ears, and eventually making a fursona. I read Homestuck and was fascinated to see language I recognized in the comic.

These days, I'm going through another identity crisis. I figure I'll be out of it eventually! I'd still call myself a wolf, but that doesn't feel quite right lol. However it goes in the future, I'm glad I got a chance 2 start figuring myself out, and like who I was for a year or so.

my story is kinda similar to yours, i met a vriska (who i am no longer friends with, long story) around 2024, and them and the people in the server they made eventually made me realize that i'm 8oth alterhuman and a trans woman!

specifically the system thing came a8out from me showing to two of my friends what systemhood is and thinking "heh. that means i'll never 8e a system! i'm one of those people who can make anyone a system, 8ut not myself." (clueless)

Oh man... I think my otherkin awakening was.. I want to say in 2017? At the very least formally - I'd been noticing "something" going on with me since around 2014-2015, but at the time I was super into soulbonding for better or for worse, and I'd only figure out what I was actually experiencing a couple of years later.

My first online moniker and the one my friends knew me as for the longest time was "dave", for obvious reasons. Funnily enough, the first kintypes I identified were Dave Strider and the Rambunctious Crow, separately - and then I realized, oh wait, I'm Davesprite aren't I.

I have a long, long kinlist which seems to be common among 'kinnies' nowadays (how do I refer to.. kin-as-faceclaim people..? I mean this entirely neutrally, I just wish there were easier ways to delineate between experiences nowadays (ᵕ—ᴗ—)), but I think I just genuinely have a lot going on in *makes vague gesture toward self* here, haha. When it comes to non-fictionkind identities though, I'm a dragon, an ermine and a (little black) cormorant.

@december I also have a long kinlist so I get you. I mostly call the kin-as-faceclaim people "kff" (kin for fun) but there are many ways to refer to such folks.

sorry to everyone in the thread, I haven't really been responding to much because I don't know how!! It's been really loving hearing from different folks who've had newer awakenings and older awakenings. Always love being around others who are like me. I didn't mention it in the original post, but I'm also a canine :] woof.
