And it just makes me appreciate RoseMary in Beyond Canon more. They're imperfect and messy. Im drawing a little on a blank on Meat!RoseMary so im not gonna delve into them rn rip, but I like the route they went in Candy. Candy!Rose cheated on Candy!Kanaya and Candy!Rose's motivations for doing so are so so interesting to me. People hated the cheating arc but i actually love it. its super juicy and gives so much insight on the characters. I love analyzing Candy!Rose's motivations for cheating.
Meanwhile JRaW!RoseMary is just, very perfect and boring. Yes, Rose worries that she is doing something wrong by not telling Kanaya what her vision was about, but nothing tells me that their relationship would be in jeopardy or Kanaya's emotional well being will be affected IMO
Dave and Karkat are getting married, but are having conflicts with each other at least. Why cant Rose and Kanaya get a hint of something? <_<
Rose is just staring wistfully in the distance n stuff. i know ur a passive class rose but i would appreciate if more panels had you walking around. Also, not a fan of JRaW!Rose's hairstyle rip. I know ppl do assume she has like short straight hair, like a bob, but i much prefer the afro or beehive hair interpretations of her sprite more. #make her hair round 2026
Also, Aranea is too calm and collected. How is she not embarrassed. she out of all the female characters needs to be one of the messiest imo, but she is not!
I feel like Terezi is too well adjusted too. Also I was always of the interpretation that Terezi looking for Vriska in the Furthest Ring would've left her like, malnourished n stuff. Like, her Adult sprite in HSBC is very skinny compared to her kid self being chubby in Pesterquest, so I always interpreted that as her being unhealthy physically and mentally actually. So JRaW!Terezi being like "i already have tons of food storaged and also im very well adjusted and im gonna joke around with Jade who is also well adjusted and silly" just kinda made me go :/
I always had these issues with the female characters, but I couldn't put my finger on it until you said you also had an issue, and it wasnt just me, so now I'm like ok, this is clearly some form of passive misogynistic writing. im only on page 732 and its like idk. I hope the writing on the female characters improve, but iirc theres only 900~ish pages? so i doubt that will happen by the time i finish
