You have concluded that the command was pointless and that this was all a big waste of time.

If it did change something, you obviously cannot tell what it was, so you are just going to say it never mattered. Unless it changes something in the TERMINAL GAME. That would be rather inconvenient, if it was something you were already well aware of.
