Jake is pretty firmly canonically aromantic, I would say. He says (in A6A5) he thinks he isn't capable of feeling romantically about anyone and he even has the aro flag color scheme. I don't think there's anything negative about this portrayal really (it made me quite happy when that update posted!), aside from the general thing that Jake's character arc is deliberately built as this sort of unresolved thing - which is kind of "still in progress" with HS2 addressing it and all.

Reading HS2 I also got this sense that Jake is very agender as well and Dirk kinda coerced him into a yaoi role out of projection... which is itself parallel to what HS2 reframes as Vriska's projection with Tavros

In general the ultimate implication of almost any romantic content in homestuck is "this stuff is a total social construct that people mistake for an inherent truth". That means a lot more to me as an acearo person than Jake saying "chaps I am aromantic" would. Even though he should say that too some time lol
