Thanks for the thorough post, Margot. But there's one thing of note you didn't bring up.
Gio's infamous 8/8 article links to a Psycholonials mirror. The very same one he created. Why does he link it?
> here is a very real discussion to have around children on the Internet stalking me and sending me death threats in the name of “Jubilism”, Andrew’s personal fictional religion whose practices include assassinating your online haters
Okay, first off: the cult in Psycholonials is the personal religion of its author? Huge if true! But I guess it's the personal "fictional" religion of the author. What does that mean? Let's check the footnote associated with the above passage:
> Andrew cultivates this strange inversion of Jester’s Privilege, where taking on the trappings of comedy and unseriousness shields the otherwise powerless jester from responsibility, allowing one to tell truth to power. Except in Andrew’s case the person claiming it is the one with all the power, and they’re using ambiguous Goofs to situationally infantilize themselves to dodge responsibility for serious harms they’ve caused not with jokes, but with professional malpractice.
So it seems that this footnote is not that relevant to the passage it's attached to. At least, it doesn't clarify the wild claim it makes.
Like Margot said, I think a lot has been said about Gio. But I'm making this post because few have talked about the part where Gio accuses someone of practicing an honest-to-goodness "personal fictional religion" about killing people. Maybe Gio wasn't actually accusing them; The wording was confusing. But even so, I think it's an unnecessary thing to write at best and blood libel at worst.
