@mateto

I'm going to be real, saying "you're typing in all lowercase, which to me is cringe and further cements in my mind you sound like an abuser" comes off as a really absurd thing to say in relation to the Homestuck fandom, where most of the actual reading within the comic itself is heavily tied to characters' different typing quirks and how they choose to write on the internet. Sure, a fair bit of Homestuck characters' writing styles are specifically done up as jokes or to be quirky, but it's still a more dramatised version of typing quirks which existed pre-homestuck as well as still exist past its prime. Even the human kids in the comic to some extent have very blatant typing quirks/styles you pick up on once you read their text a lot.

But with that tangeant aside, a major part OF this dispute is literally tied to the fact that the UHC is unofficial and essentially an unlicensed upload of a webcomic that has officially-published and licensed books. If you were to go online and make a site giving George R. R. Martin's works out for free, you'd be hit with a DMCA too. The fact of there actually having been negotiation in the first place to allow the fan project to exist with official backing isn't something you see with most companies.

As well as so much of Gio's language and tone in their articles being volatile and inflammatory in nature, it leads me to believe there's a side to the story that Gio's choosing to not give or manipulating in some way to try and paint the picture they want. Normally, you don't drop inflammatory and lengthy documents like this on a widely-recognized celebratory day, especially after a huge up-tick in fandom activity, without it having been purposely trying to stir the pot.

This has turned into an ongoing game of social media telephone on other platforms, which has led many to believe Gio was the ONLY source of reading Homestuck due to the site's malfunctions. Said posts going much more viral than a lot of fanart I've seen lately despite how narratively huge the intermission and act 2 are for the franchise as a whole. Like 4-8x the amount of likes in far less time. It's highly likely many people won't engage with follow-ups/responses to Gio's initial posts, leading to a consistent air of misinformation about "ANDREW HUSSIE DESTROYED THE ONLY WAY TO READ HOMESTUCK BECAUSE HE COULDN'T GET CONTROL OF IT!!!" that is going to plague fandom discussion for a long while at this rate.

A grubtube video, called "Giving my lusus their legs back! (THANK GOG I HAD ANTIVENOM!!!). The video description says "This may have been a misnake! (THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP!!!). It's a joke edit of an Allen Pan video titled "giving snakes there legs back." in which he constructs what's essentially a tube with legs that a snake can ride in.
