Building things, looting and killing stuff - the aesthetics as they are presented in the comic are very 00's, but the gameplay so&nds like something between Valheim and Fortnight, both of which are popular games (although one a couple orders of magnitude more than the other).
I think it depends on how many of the features from the game are there. If you can import the floorplan of you own living space, and the game can generate environment, quests and NPCs with big enough variation and relation to user input, then I think it would be hugely popular. Well-made-wacky works. User creativity sells. But you would need the full novel implementation of the game, not just a fascimile of the experience shown in the comic.
