He is gay because he was foretold to be. His existence of being gay then was used as a prophecy, wherein a Knight of Time in a very specific webcomic would be gay. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy, never to be broken by the movement of time. He remains stagnant as TimeBound, while everything else moves and changes around him.
