I do like how he never says anything akin to "He was like a son to me" in the OT because they really were closer to brothers even though it was obvious Anakin looked up to him in a way. Despite their friendliness, he was still an authority figure and quite the intimidating one at times, so there was definitely a barrier between them which (among other things) led to Palpatine wriggling his way in there as Anakin's true father figure. That wasn't exactly Obi-Wan's fault though, it was the Jedi's for not coming up with a solution when it came to how to raise Anakin. I think the prequels make for a good autism allegory even though that probably wasn't the intention :D
