Generally my advice would be, you can be selective with which suggestions you take, you can make things up and introduce completely new concepts or ideas and readers will probably accept it, silliness is expected but you can also lean into a more serious narrative-driven story at any time if you feel like it, and building on previously introduced elements is a great way to enhance the adventure even if it's silly stuff building on silly stuff.
